Emma Watson feels for Kate Middleton

The last quotes are the ones from the video, but the first ones are new.
LONDON — Emma Watson has a lot of sympathy for Kate Middleton.

The royal bride-to-be is under a worldwide spotlight ahead of her April 29 wedding to Prince William – with special focus on fashion, what she'll wear for her big day. Only two billion people may be watching, according to one British minister.

"Poor girl, that must be an incredible amount of pressure," Watson told The Associated Press in an interview earlier this month. "I hope she's enjoying it. Must be intense."

Watson herself knows something about life in the spotlight. Over the last eleven years she's grown up on screen and in public from a child actress to a film star. These days who she's dating is big entertainment news, what she's wearing is dissected by fashionistas around the globe, which products she is endorsing fuels business stories.

A simple trip to the hairdresser to cut her long golden brown hair into an elfin crop made international headlines.

Along with co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, Watson's brought the magical books of JK Rowling to life, by playing Harry Potter's bookish but gutsy pal Hermione Granger.

And, like her character, Watson has always been studious. She enrolled to study liberal arts at Rhode Island's Brown University in 2009. But being a movie star and an Ivy League student took its toll, and she says commuting back and forth to the U.S. left her stressed out.

Ever the perfectionist, Watson couldn't stand delivering a below-average performance, so she took some time off. How very Hermione.

"I just knew I was going to be beating myself up because I wasn't going to be able to be doing the best that I knew that I could at school or in my job," she said. "If I'd been getting B's or C's I would've been really upset."

So she will be returning to school in September after helping to promote the final two films. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" is out on DVD in the U.S. on April 15 – with "Part 2," the last installment, set for release in July.

Watson also found time for another movie role in "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," which starts filming in May.

Watson also plans to check out Radcliffe's Broadway stint singing and dancing in "How to Succeed to Business Without Really Trying" – and admits she's very tempted to follow in his tip-tapping footsteps.

"It's something that I've always wanted to do," she explained. "The idea of having a live audience is just really appealing to me. I think that must be an amazing experience."

So, for the girl who turns 21 on Friday, life is good.

"I just had so many amazing opportunities come my way. I just want to make the best of everything," Watson said.

Great interview! She would know how Kate feels.

so, Emma was at the BBC Radio 4? I didn't catch it :(

She clearly knows how Kate feels. GIrls are always more mediatized (i don't know if it's the right word....) than boys, it's been like that for almost 50 years, with pin up and everything (i know it's a strange link, but I think it all began with woman's sexualization)

Emma is a lot more mediatized than any of the boys who worked on the Harry Potter sets, it'S a lot more of pressure and i'm sure it's difficult to keep going.

What's wrong with B's? =[ My entire life has been B's - and the very very occasional A!

she shouldnt be too hard on herself

i guess kate is worse off than emma because she has more rules to follow and if emma wants to quit everything she can just do it, for kate its now part of her job and marriage duty.

If she got a B or C when she tried hard she wouldn't mind. It bugs her to get a lower grade when she knew if she had the time she could do better. Since Emma is there for the education (not needing it for a job) it's understandable.

This is such a lovely article. Emma really does a great interview. It's interesting to see how she feels about Kate Middleton. As great as it must be to be a futire Princess, if I were her, I'd be sick to my stomach everyday.

Everytime a new HP movie comes out, I get so eager to see what talk show she's going to be on. For me, the highlight of the week a new movie comes out is the TV appearances.

it should be how very unhermione, not how very hermione. Hermione would never leave school for something like fashion shoots. Stop comparing her to hermione. She is more like lavender than her. Hermione would hate emma if they were in the same school. So, for dh 1 it's all about her hair now for dh 2 will be about her excuses for leaving school. God, this girl is full of herself and vain. It's all about me, me, and me. I would call her smart if were in difficult science subjects like chemist, physics etc. not something like liberal art' english literatur. Blah, she's more to diligent than inteligent. She's hardly smart compare to real smart people out there. Don't mentions she got 10 As. lots peole easily got 12 or 13 As. if not for her celebrity status i highly doubt she could get in brown.

I don't get why you think it's all about herself. If it's because of the annoying talks about her hair during DH1 promotion, she just answers the questions asked. So yeah, it's annoying and uninteresting, but I don't think she's glad to talk about it over and over again just because it's about her.

lol, there's nothing really to get

it's all just noise at this point, nothing haters say makes any sense to a normal person...emma controls the media apparently and if you're not a physics professor you're a complete moron...

oh my god emma watson compared with a princess? full of herself...

Mr anonymous enemies these comments go to the extreme of stupidity.

OMG. She's just answering questions. Stop blaming her for everything. She just want to suceed in what she's doing.

"Hermione would never leave school for something like fashion shoots. "

She left school for DH2 promotion and shooting a new film but not fashion shoots. Your idiot hater!

I take extreme exception to what 'Anonymous'(I think we all know who it really is) said about liberal arts and English literature. How incredibly snobbish and simplistic you are. I may find Emma to be self-absorbed and highly contradictory/hypocritical (I keep up with all HP cast, even the ones I don't like, in case anyone's wondering why I'm here if I don't like her), but my agreement with your views ends there. English Lit is what I studied and it was far from easy. It takes just as much intelligence to study as a science subject, it's just a different type of intelligence. The only difference is that the marking of grades in Eng Lit is far more subjective because it's not a factual subject, and therefore, it has a reputation for being easy to slack in while maintaining higher grades. But for the most part, good grades in Eng Lit are notoriously hard to achieve as standards are high, and even if one gets low marks, that does not signify a lack of effort always. As you insist yourself, grades don't equal intelligence, rather they equal diligence in giving the tutors what they require in a somewhat clinical way. I find it amusing that you seem capable of distinguishing between diligence and intelligence - which I agree with you about - yet, you don't seem to understand the different types of intelligence.
Also, as far as I know, she studies History, not English.

i studied physics myself and most people there think they study something extremely important and difficult, totally elitist. truth is most of them are sad and bitter virgins who try to find some worth in their lifes.
i studied it because it is interesting to me and not because i want to feel more clever than other people.

What celeb isn't self-absorbed or contradictory? Celebrities come and go, it needs to be all about them, or they fade away and become a nobody. You get what I mean? Fame is like a game, some celebs are in it to win it, some not. It doesn't make them bad. I'm not saying Emma's an a$$hole, nor am I saying Emma's a God, I'm just saying she's a celebrity and I'm a fan, and will continue to be a fan no matter what. Unless she turns into another Lindsey Lohan... That's another story.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous 10:41:00 PM - sad, bitter elitists imediately equal virgins to you? Now who's judgemental.

Anonymous said...

lol we shouldnt judge those sad bitter elitists...they're such a marginalized group

Anonymous said...

why if someone say something not praising emma it's always considered bitter, judgementall much anon above? people always treated emma smartness like she's like some kind of genious, and it looks it starts getting in her head. Even in the interviews she's kind of dumb and hardly had any dept. She need to look at other people not just her reflection in the mirror.

your reading comprehension is terrible. the person was saying that physics majors are bitter elitists. i dont agree with that person but thats what they said. i also dont think haters are elitist, i just think theyre stupid and you've just proven my viewpoint. :)

If you were responding to my comment (12:24:00 AM) (I've lost track because we're all anonymous!) then no, my reading comprehension is perfectly fine - it's yours that's at fault. I KNOW that they were saying physics majors are bitter elitists - what I was offended by was the indication that a bitter elitist must inevitably be a virgin, which insinuates that being a virgin is inherently pathetic. I'm a bit baffled as to how you could misread my comment so completely. Insulting my 'reading comprehension' made you seem patronising and calling me 'stupid' is just ignorant - and in what way am I a hater? What did my comment express hatred towards? In response to the anonymous after my last comment - I wasn't insinuating that the elitists were the marginalised group, I was saying that virgins are.

Anonymous said...

Now, I think you weren't replying to me, but to a different Anonymous - I guess I am just a little bit stupid after all if that's the case! Lol! Sorry if I have misunderstood. If not, then I stand by my response.

wow, for the recond none of these anons that are anti-emma were me. I know that Kristin keeps on thinking its me is disguise. Kepp it up guys. =)

I hear harps playing. Some are finally seeing the light about emma watson. =)

There are always people doing something (a job, studying a certain subjekt, etc.) for wrong reasons and some are for right reasons.
I was never really good at school. I wasn't too bad eather but I still wouldn't consider myself any less inteligend than people who had good marks. It's way to easy to get good grades just by learning it by heart without actually having understood it. It doesn't mean you gossip less/don't gossip nor does it mean you are at least polite to people you are not fond of. I think it's really hard judjing who is intelegent and who isn't. It totally depends on what criterias you take.

There is no Reason to be sorry for Kate. She looks so happy at Photos and I think she is really happy and handle's it well.

I think Emma is the one who has Problems with the Spotlight

agreed @ anon above

emma must be a closet masochist by the sound of her quote about it being intense and hope she enjoys it.
