Did Emma Watson's fashion line really make a flop?

The Daily Mail posted 5 days ago an article titled "Emma's dream is over after fashion line flops". According to "a source", "Emma was so disappointed. But even at knockdown prices, the clothes were still sitting on the shelves. She’s also stalled on plans to do more with Ferretti because she doesn’t have time."

This rumour spread all over the internet but Safia Minney, People Tree’s founder and CEO, talked to Ecouterre.
“Emma is a very good actress and a sensitive person with an ethical and ecological vision that perfectly embodies People Tree’s vision and philosophy,” Minney tells Ecouterre. “The collection was amazing, was received very well by clients and press, and sold well. We are very happy about this opportunity with Emma.” Not only did People Tree close 2011 with a 10 percent increase in online sales, Minney adds, but it also increased its orders of fair-trade and organic cotton by 150 percent in 2012 alone.
Another flop from the Daily Mail. They should choose their "sources" more wisely.

I don't know if that site that is out to prove that Emma is the most worthless human ever to walk the earth is male or female, but either way they need to get a life. What does it accomplish to take shots at someone like Emma, even if she is famous? Are they jealous because of the opportunities and those related successes related to Harry Potter? She got to participate in a big way in something that had never been done before in cinema and it paid off for everybody involved. The people running that site need to get over themselves.

At University, my professor always taught us to treat any source who refuses to either name themselves or explain their connection to a story as skeptical as possible unless you get other sources. It shouldn't be surprising they got this wrong and yet it is.

Daily mail is a shit paper...they make an article whenever they get couple of pictures. I think the showbiz column just server one purpose i.e see the pictures and ignore the crap we right

After reading DM article i checked on people tree website to find that only one of emma's designs is available and nothing else.DM seem to create opportunities to shit about emma because em never gives one

They just can't find anything bad to say about her so they have to make things up! Nice try though.

Guys it's how the press work. They wait for you to make it in hollywood/music and then they just come out with crap to make money. It's how they work. They do it to all the big stars. I just hope it don't bother Emma. I don't care what crap they write. Her true fans will always stick by her :).

DM showbiz section is absolute garbage.'CAUTION' reading that section damages your mental health

Oh, it's good to hear that her People Tree line did well. I was actually very sad for Emma to read that her People Tree line flopped. I sort of thought it was true, only because the Daily Mail wasn't the only source to report on it (there were also a bunch of sites from India that reported it, but I guess we know where they got that story from.) It's sad, but she's actually getting very good promotion through these lies. Her name is getting out into the press, and sometimes, that's what a celeb needs to keep their name relevant (especially Emma after coming off of a huge franchise/did the least work on other movies during the filming HP.) But by now, almost everyone knows that 95%of the articles about Emma that come out of the Daily Mail are untrue. Even if fans read this, nobody's going to believe it.

Hopefully Emma stays in touch with them and does a collaboration in the future. This is a great example of a famous person using their "celebrity" to help a worthy cause.

As an old saying' its not the quantity of work that gets you remembered and cherished, its the QUALITY of work that matters' which is what emma does.she involves only in things which she is passionate about and gives her 100% and thats why she the most famous compared to others.i personally think that she distanced herself from Hermione by doing incredibly in fashion industry with top brands and cutting hair. Emma doesnt require negative publicity as kristen is implying because she is a true artist(who are very rare in present generation)

I think it's pretty cool that Emma at least talked to the Lancome bosses about the possibility of an eco-friendly line. That is definately something I will keep an eye on in the next couple of years.

Anonymous said...

She once said that she's trying to convince christopher bailey of burberry to start eco-friendly line. So we can look forward to that too.not in the near future but sometime it might happen. Emma always has a way of getting things done in the way she likes. God bless her

I'm sorry if this hurt Emma. But Emma stands far above such trash. I agree, she is a true artist. She referred to herself as wanting to be a Renaissance woman- go for it Emma. And even if something turns out not to be successful- welcome to normal. Not everything we do is a pot of success and a pot of gold at the other end of the rainbow. That is Life. But I believe Emma will surprise us with wonderful movies, I hope writing,(own scripts), some directing and of course films. Maybe she will have time for painting.
I wish her the best.

Since Yates is going to film A Reliable Wife, written by Robert Goodrick, I was wondering if he said anything of Emma Watson possibly playing the role of the wife. Now that would be a role to play. An insane couple- one worse than the other- but totally human.
I'm just interested.

I really like Emma Watson, but she needs to avoid seeming superficial. With this taking a semester out of worcester- Trinity term is research time. Changes her mind a lot. She being greased as fake.

See bonnie wright. now that girl has class. she is slow in coming because of school but she will make the mark in the long haul. emma flips here and there. i just hope she flops nowhere. i like her though, but my parents would kill me if i interupted uni like she does.
kip

anon @17:00PM lool. Your parents would kill you if you interrupted uni like she does because UNLIKE Emma you probably don't have some of the best people in your chosen profession knocking on your door offering you jobs... You might be surprised by your parents reactions if you decided to turn down opportunities to secure a multimillion career to kick about on campus.

I wish people would stop making silly comparisons between Emma's situation and their situation. It's just not same. There's no reason for her to rush to finish in 4 years, or not rearrange her studies around her profession. It says a ton about Emma that she's even bothering with university.

oh my god l'm really bother from some comments here! !!!!! YOU are such HATERS

People open your mind and stop criticizing emma like this! !!! She is an intelligent girl and she knows what she do with herself . She will complete her study , it's not a proplem to take some time off . .
she has a great opportunity to work with a brilliant director like sophia coppola , of cours she wouldn't let this opportunity! !!!
Which indeed a great step in her career , and don't forget that emma excited to work with her in order to learn , Which means it's not just work and keep actingfor her and this really good for her.

go Emma , we supporting you forever

I agree with Anon above. In 2009, Emma said she was going to do both ... school and acting. She said she wanted the best of both worlds. She is doing exactly what she said she would do. She goes to school for awhile, then takes a break and does a movie, then goes back to school. When you think about it, she has done this for 10 years or so. She would film a Potter movie (and be tutored on set) then when filming was over, she would go back to school for awhile until the next movie started filming.

Why would anyone want to go to 4 years of college all right in a row if they don't have to? Most of us do have to, because we need to get our degrees as soon as possible and then start our careers. Emma can take her time. She doesn't need a degree. She likes school ... but in small doses.

Anonymous said...

I'm Kip and I meant no offense. It was just a thought. But stability in what you do is important. And you are wrong, my parents would want me to get my degree first and then do these things. There are in actuality very few parents that would want their children to be part of the movie scene. I got a modeling offer once when I was 15 for clothes- good money my parents said no- go to school and study- if you want to do that - can still later. The more I watch Bonnie though, the more I like- ver stable.

Bonnie Wright is making her first short film - "Seperate we come, Seperate we go". David Thewlis is staring in it. Swell! It's a graduate work film- wrote the screenplay too. I think Bonnie and Emma are wonderful- great role-models.She just finished a film- The Philosophers. Supposed to be in a new film- "In want of a wife2. imdb DOESN#T HAVE HER UPDATED AT ALL1

Even actresses should not be beyond a good education. Like Kip said, look at Bonnie Wright of the HP. Just to add to that she is in the process of making a graduate work film- Seperate we come, Seperate we go. Emma is giving us a flash, but Bonnie will be longlasting. Although I am anEmma fan, but skip and hop, have a dose of learning- skip and hop again. Like Gilbert said, she has been doing it that way for years- shucks it works for her.
I truly am a fan of emma watson.hmm also Bonnie Wright.

does anyone know when the trailer for perks of being a wallflower is coming out? I'd like a breeze of emma before the movie comes out

all the movies combined bonnie has a screen time of 15 minutes. How can anyone compare her with emma watson is beyond me!!!!and emma is going to ivy league and doing english and history where as bonnie is attending London's University of the Arts: London College of Communication, to study Film and Television Production.Even here there is no coparision.NO OFFENCE TO BONNIE OR ANY OTHER HP CAST BUT I THINK EMMA DOES HELL A LOT OF JUGGLING VERY VERY SUCCESSFULLY

Anonymous said...

I personally think that no one in HP is as complex as emma.I mean she plays a totally stuck up hermione but in real life she is so chilled out and funny, then she is this determined down to earth person and leads a normal life BUT at the same time she is fashion industry darling who at public event is soooo sophisticating and articulate that she almost steals the show whenever she is present.AND STILL remains to be a STRAIGHT A student who goes to brown and oxford.I dont understand how she does it but JUST WOW. a rennaissance women i guess...god bless her

Anonymous said...

i cant imagine comparing bonnie and emma. EMMA ROCKS BASICALLY

Anonymous said...

I can imagine comparing them. Just cause you go to Ivy league doesn't mean other forms of education is worhtless, but perservering through one step of the time is the clinch. I like Emma Watson, but I also believe that had Bonnie Wright gotten the role of Hermoine, she would have done just as well.
There is no harm in saying that Bonnie also rocks. I like both girls for different reasons. Time will tell! Now look at Kirsten who supposedly just finished her first novel without an Ivy league education. Let's see if this is true!

Anonymous said...

Emma also wants to write a novel. Well see about Kirsten's novel. You just don't write a good novel. That is a skill with rules. You usually need an education nowadays for something like that. Of course there always exceptions to the rule. But back to Emma and Bonnie. Hope they do something to together someday. Emma can be the actress and Bonnie can write the screenplay and direct.

Anonymous said...

i love bonnie and emma and many of HP cast equally. But emma is just leagues ahead of bonnie. And i dont think anyone could play hermione more perfectly than emma and imagining bonnie as hermione makes me sick.Bonnie was not even able to potray ginny perfectly.its the truth

Anonymous said...

David Thewlis donated time for Bonnie's film. It is supposed to be shown in Cannes. I am so looking forward to what these two young women, Bonnie and Emma will be doing in the future.

Anonymous said...

emma was selected to play hermione and bonnie also auditioned for that role but instead got ginny. To anon at 03:56:00 PM its not like they took a lucky draw in selecting who got play who. There were auditions and emma was at top from first audition.i too beleive there is no comparition between them. EM IS A MILLION TIMES BETTER(WHICH DOESNT MEAN BONNIE IS NOT GOOD)

Eden said...

Bonnie never auditioned for Hermione. This conversation is boring.

Anonymous said...

No, but like KIp said Bonnie has class. By does one person have to be torn down to make another shine. I am a fan of both. Can't Emma and Bonnie have good careers. Ginny was a limited charcter.Anyone would have had problems the way she was scripted- it was pathetic- tying Hary's shoe strings. I almost barfed, but that was a screenwriter and directorial problem. Nevertheless, I want both of them to have a good career. Give Bonnie a good role and she will nip it. Can't wait to see her in The Philosopher. Another American movie coming up around summer.
Seth

Anonymous said...

Good point Seth. It's tearing Emma down to say somehting nice about Bonnie. Aren't the two friends? I am watching both of their careers. Bonnie is a bit quieter about her endeavors, but I believe she will also do well. But I admire the way Emma has calculated every step she has taken with film and studies and fashion scene. The fact is a young actor/actress can't let too much time lapse between their films, especially a beginner like Emma after the HP. It is logical to me that she is in films and juggling education if se wants to have a serious film career. From this serious, solid film career other things will develop. I like both of the young women- great role-models. I would have like to see the boys of HP get a bit serious about education. Dan Radcliffe turned me off when he said than education was for someone who didn't know what they wanted to do. He knew he wanted to be an actor. What a moran. He totally missed the point.
Emma rocks!

What I like about Emma is that she considering attending school while she isn't obliged to do ! in contrast of most other celebrities !!
She is really unique and hard working lady <3 love her so much

Anonymous said...

Diddo! She is one fine lady. I just hope she doesn't ditch he education because of good offers. That would really turn me off. Part of Emma's charm is ability to juggle all the pins and still strike.

Why is anything here a topic of conversation? A topic of conversation is a topic of interest.

Why is Emma's hair a topic of conversation? Why is her skin a topic of conversation? Why is anything about Emma a topic of converstion. You asked a stupid question. If that is the attitude-shut down the blog!

So what, you should be free to talk about anything you want but I can't give my opinion on my own blog?

sure you can. but topics will change according to how individuals interpret. <but all in all we are all emma fans.So no hard feelings. Sometimes there is a catchword the each person responds to differently.
