Emma Watson talks about 'Fifty Shades of Grey'

I already talked about it on the Facebook page of the blog:
50 Shades of Grey's producers on the cast:
"All of the rumors on #FiftyShades are just that - rumors. No one has been cast in any role. We have to get a writer and director first,"
"no one's been cast or even approached yet, all just rumors."
But now, Emma herself talked about it to Entertainment Weekly:
“I haven’t read the book, I haven’t a read a script, nothing,” Watson tells EW. “There are so many movies you become attached to when I’ve literally never even received a phone call. It was the same way with The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo – I never even saw a script!” Watson is plenty busy: she has The Perks of Being a Wallflower in theaters this fall; she recently wrapped Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring and is currently working on Darren Aronofsky’s Noah. She adds that even some friends and family asked her about Grey since so many different items linking her to the film have popped up online. “I told them just because there are 60 articles on the Internet doesn’t mean it’s any less true than if there are three or four.” And a word to the wise for those who believe everything that they read about the actress: “The thing is I’m not going to go out there every time someone attaches me to a film to say no or release a statement.”

I don't know if it's the verbatim but the sentences "There are so many movies you become attached to when I’ve literally never even received a phone call" and "I told them just because there are 60 articles on the Internet doesn’t mean it’s any less true than if there are three or four" make no sense.

Yeah, kind of happy about that. I'm glad she released a statement. She probably thought it would be media hell if she didn't. Paparazzi, tabloids and journalists asking her whether or not she's doing the movie. Hounding her until she answers.

She has too much class to show that ass in some crappy twilight fanfiction.

Even when the producers made their statement on these rumors it didn't even slow down. With Bling Ring and Perks we will most likely see Emma in sexual situations, but 50 Shades of Grey is flat out porn. I will admit that I am surprised that she has not at least read the book yet.

The sentences are perfectly fine...

@Chris: Why is it such a surprise? I'm just asking this out of curiosity. Most of my friends and I haven't read the book either :)

The article only confirms that Emma is not attached the movie and that she has not read the book. Emma did not say she does not want to do it or is not interested. I would think that most actors would like to leave their options open and not publicly deny interest in playing a role. However, I don’t think she would do this type of material either and not to mention it is a series.

It is either a typographical or contextual error or maybe Emma just misspoke. There was another error as well.

@Issa, it's a surprise to me because almost all my female friends and adult family members have lol.

I'm pretty glad to see that Emma hasn't hopped on bandwagon, reading what is by all accounts a terrible book just because it's the "Next Big Thing."

Neither myself nor most of my friends have read the book... We're all female... I'm not in anyway surprised.

Too funny, the bit about 'crappy twilight fan-fiction', which is exactly what that smutty book is. I find it hard to believe Emma would even give that movie a serious thought. It appears she wants to be a respected actor and not a porn star!

I've heard Angelina Jolie wants to be Anastasia Steele. I'd much rather see that happen than see Emma in that particular role. I'm looking forward to Emma being in Perks, Noah, and Beauty and the Beast. She's stated that she wants to finish school. With all the movies lined up that she has, when is she going to have time for classes? Just wondering.

She should have time for classes. It takes so long production to release; she is just lining up future movies. They are in the second week of 'Noah' and ‘Beauty and the Beast’ is in preproduction and will not start filming this till at least next year.

I'm relieved she is not doing 50 shades of grey- smut sensationalism. I would have lost all respect for Emma. I agree that she is just too classy to show her ass in a cheap flick. She has enough going for her to get good roles. And if that should change, then she will have a good college degree to create new options for herself.
