New full picture of Emma Watson by Harry Crowder

"This was from my first shoot with Emma Watson . This photo was another one of those great moments which I always look for in my photography, something real and honest. I teased Em about there still being a big sticker on the bottom of her shoe whilst I snapped away. I think this is a real fun moment and I'm glad I was able to capture it, and I'm now able to share with all of you."

Hmm idk why but i'm not really liking this one.

I think that might be my favorite one of his, it's not a staged photo & more candid, & I love its black and white style. Emma photographs well in black and white.

I LOVE this pic, it's really candid and natural, but what is she doing to her foot? It's funny.

Sorry, but as cute as Emma is with short hair, I still prefer her having longer hair.

@Coslopus Harry told her there was a sticker on the bottom of her foot and this photo was taken as she was trying to take it off. It says so in the description. I like this photo, it feels natural if that makes sense.

Harry Crowder has an amazing talent for connecting to his subjects through his lens. I think the pleasure and fun and laughter in this picture is so captivating because it really captures that sense of connection, and seeing it as Harry saw it, it makes the connection feel like it's between Emma and the viewer.

What a gift!

Thanks, anon.

Now that HP's ended, new Emma news and pics are very few and far between. Every time I see a new pic of Emma, I get so excited that I forget to read the actual story that comes with it, therefore missing vital pieces of information like that.

He's such an amazing photographer but I think it'll take us YEARS before we actually see ALL the photos. :))

I love those old tubs with the feet. Anymore news on Your Voice in my Head---It is very disappointing that Warner Brothers is saying nothing aboout this highly anticipated film.

I'd like to know if she is going back to school since all the summer films seem to be stalled.

sparkvark111 said...

The only film that is stalled is 'Your Voice in my Head' as far as we know. I would think she would go back to school in the fall anyway, stalled or not.

So, Noah is to be filmed now? Does anyone know when that is starting? I do hope for Emma she will have a summer holiday, too.

sparkvark111 said...

They are supposedly starting rehearsals around July 20th.

"I do hope for Emma she will have a summer holiday, too."

I am sure as a contract actor, like herself, has a lot of time between or during shoots to play... :)

They start shooting 'Noah' in August.

Aw, what a lovely photo! I have to say, I prefer her with short hair as well.

When will she normally be finishing school?

She looks so happy in this pic! She has a beautiful smile! :)

”When will she normally be finishing school?”

At the end of spring 2013, if she is still on track to graduate.

Anonymous said...

If she is on track for 2013 graduation then, she really must have gotten credits from A-levels which are an equivalent of Junior college in the USA. She could have gotten some drama credits for English since it was a Shakespeare course. Other than that, she must have taken 18 to 21 credit hours per semester to still be on the class schedule. And then is the question if she is attending Oxford in October to finish Trinity semester. You could take 18 to 21 hours with special permission. I don't think it would impossible with Emma, especially the first 2 semesters she was at brown. The 3rd semester began to get a bit busier with HP promotions setting in. I mean this could be the only way for her to be on track. Unless of course she is taking on Online courses from Brown. I'm not sure Brown allows course work for a degree get done this way- then most likely only a limited number of credits.

Anonymous(07:23:00 AM), from what I heard or read, I believe they did use her 'A-level' as credit, as well as changing her major from 'History' to 'English' to facilitated her advancement to her sophomore year. This allowed her to take her third year abroad at the suggestion of a Brown University representative, probably an academic counselor. Recently, she made arrangements with Worcester for her third term to film 'The Bling Ring.' As long as nothing else happens to delay her studies, she should finish on-time. Of course we do not know what is happening with 'Your Voice in my Head' yet, so things could change. A bachelors degree in in the US is on average 120 credits which would work out to roughly 5 classes a semester, if one did not require any prerequisite classes. As for her class load, I would think she did take at least six to seven classes a semester. I took four classes in a semester once with a full-time job, so as a good student like herself could easily do it. The real problem was the traveling she had to do for the modeling, movie shoots, and junkets took a toll on her, by her own admission. Even making arrangements, I think her studies suffered a little by her standards, even with (speculation) extra credit or make up time towards the end of 2010. I do not think she could account for the number or time of each junket or that she would have to re-shoot the epilogue that far in advanced. I think 'Noah' and 'Your Voice in my Head' will be shot in mostly in New York. If needed, she could commute to New York from Providence, it is an hour flight. In the worst case, she would do an extra semester/or classes.

I don't think she finished her third year at Oxford. Her tweet about that wasn't clear so nobody really knows what she is up to. She probabaly has still a trimester to do and then her final year in Brown in January. But I think she may have to defer it to film 'Your Voice in my Head'.

I took her message on her website as an arrangement and not a deferral. Of course, I could be wrong...

6 March 2012

Hey Guys,
I'm just packing to go out to Los Angeles for "Bling Ring". I'm taking my 3rd term out of Worcester College to make sure I don't compromise my studies or my part in the film. I am so excited to have the opportunity to learn from Sofia and make what I think is a very important film. This is a bit of dream for me really. So that's my update! I hope everyone is well.
Love Emma xx

That indicates a deferral. ^

sparkvark111 said...

I just read about Russell Crowe's kids on Emma. :)

"My kids are flipping out that I'm going to work with Hermoine."

It indicates neither a deferral nor an arrangement, it's not very clear.
There are two possible stories :
-If she meant a arrangement, she's not very good at communication because the message ("taking out" could mean "taking off") suggests otherwise. Even the "compromise my studies" bit suggests a deferral.
-If she meant a deferral : maybe she was ashamed of admitting she was taking time off and didn't want to say it in a upfront way.

My guess is she took time off but I would not be 100% sure about that.

I don't know if it does because you could do the semester but not do it in Worcester. It's a research semester where you have to write a dissertation, you know have to attend class. As long as you stay in touch with your tutor and had access to a library you could write it anywhere. I appreciate it would be difficult for her to find the time to write it though, especially whilst shooting movies! Girl doesn't need to kill herself with work, would be better if she took her time and deferred, would be smarter. I'd want to spread it out and have enough time to study properly and get a good degree. If in three years time she has a good degree and a good career going for her that would be a massive success, rather than rushing both...

Anonymous said...

Most likely she deferred or got an extension on her dissertation, which wouldn't be impossible. I agree with 17:00 that it is better to get a good degree, but finish the degree I would add to that. To bad she couldn't finish history at Brown. History and English Literature would be a good combination for anyone who wants to direct, script their own films. I just hope she is the best she can be.

Anonymous said...

Any way she took the easier route for her BA. Brown is just tougher than Oxford. At Brown you can't just get a degree as an aside. You have to plunge deep to lastly research quality.

I hope she doesn't substitute being well educated for something as superficial as acting. I like good films, but this world is superficial, and the people that facilitate it are surreal. I read some time ago an actress saying that she really doesn't know who she really was, since she had played so many roles. I was a bit jolted. But not too few are really screwed up. But being screwed up has become acceptable.

Changing her major to English, I do not think would significantly altered her learning History or any other her areas, it just will not be her focus. Brown is the most liberal of the schools as to what classes are required to complete a degree, so it is perfect for someone like Emma that likes to try different things.

Looking at her statement again, it is hard to say what exactly she meant with, because she did not modify the word ‘out’. You would have to assume what she meant based on context as ‘away’ or ‘off.’ There are many different ways to complete your degree, but I think she would want to have the traditional college experience than just take classes. She may not want to both at the same time, just as an exception. I am sure she could not pass up the opportunity to work with Sophia Coppola.

Since she has since decided to be an actress, of which she was not yet sure before she had begun her studies at Brown University, it makes perfect sense that she would accept these offers from S.Coppola and D. Aronofsky, both very accompliched directors. But lastly I want to state, that I think that Emma is too talented to be only acting and expressing someone elses vision. Mel Gibson has combined the two very successfully (despite of all the carnage about him) but he has combined being an extremely talented actor to being a very talented director. Everyone of his films have been successful. I'm not footing for Mel, but I just wanted to give an example of the range Emma could have with a good education.

I live in Germany, and a few friends and I sat about on Friday evening and watched a documentary about child actors and actresses who had all started in teen films and developed there acting chops in this range. This made me think of Perks of being a Wallflower. We are just reading the book (in a German school)so such a documentary was very interesting. My friends and I hoped that they would do a documentary on the great young actors and actresses (Emma and Logan Lerman) for Perks of being a Wallflower. Many schools in Germany are reading the book as a Lektüre.

Does Brown university allow online courses to fill course requirements. I could see her wanting a college experience for the first semesters with dorm and all- it is a great time and a great social learning experience. But I can also understand that she might have come to a point where she had to look for other avenues to possiblily help her to finish some of her credits.

Taking out of worchester could also mean, that she may be working independently under the supervision of a proff. I remember reading somewhere briefly, that a spokesman from Oxford stated that the UNi had made arrangements that had fit to Emma's situation. Most likely to keep uni life as fluent as possible.

I was looking at the term dates and it looks like she shot the 'The Bling Ring' during the break between Hilary and Trinity term. Besides the three weeks she spent shooting the 'The End of the World' and her attending the MTV Movie awards end of May through 15 June, I am not sure she missed that much from school.

So she could have completed her research, depending on how far she had prepared ahead and how well she had already outline her theme
