Excerpt of Emma Watson's interview for Entertainment Weekly

The magazine will be out tomorrow.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower marks Emma Watson’s first major post-Harry Potter role. She remembers meeting with Stephen Chbosky (who not only wrote the 1999 novel but wrote the screenplay and directed the movie, too) who persuaded her to take on the part of Sam, a rebellious and popular high school girl.
At our initial meeting, he said, ‘Okay, not  only is this going to be one of the most important parts you play, you’re also going to have the summer of your life and meet some of your best friends.’ I thought, ‘That’s quite a claim. Who is this guy?Watson says with a laugh. “Everything he said came true.
The cast — which includes Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller —  all bonded while living in the same hotel in Pittsburgh, which Watson now calls one of her  favorite places. It was there that Watson can point to one particular scene — when Sam stands up in the back of a pickup truck driving through a tunnel — as the moment she was able to truly graduate from Hogwarts. “I started as Emma with some Hermione still left in my system,” she says. “I went through the tunnel and I came out ready to start something new.”
For more on Emma Watson (including how she mastered an American accent) and 97 other fall movies, pick up the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, on stands August 10.

It's definately her most important role at this moment that she's played because this will set the tone with fans to adjust to her acting ability Post-Potter. It is a great thing to hear that she had the time of her life working on Perks.

I just got that issue today! EW (in their bullseye section in the back) said that she did the American accent VERY well. 10 points to Gryffindor (their words, not mine). It's nice seeing that people think her accent is believable. Honestly, I think it will be her accent that will make or break the film. Then again, fans/non-fans are watching her accent/acting so closely to see if she can do well outside of HP, that even if she has one flaw will be scrutinized badly. We'll just have to wait and see.

There was also a beautiful pic of Emma with the interview. Not new, but beautiful non the less.

Could you scan it? Is there anything new in the interview?

I truly believe that doing Perks was a very smart move from Emma. The role was age appropriate. Hermoine was a great role, but she has wisely chosen roles that give her audience a contrast to Hermoine: Sam in Perks and Alexis in Bling; upcoming Illa in NOah and then Emma Forest in Your Voice in my Head. Lastly there is Beauty and the Beast and then Kristy. These roles are so different from one another. These roles force Emma to step into a new range avenue. She has to switch quickly and understand her new role completey. I don't like to say that she is distancing herself from Hermoine in HP, rather I would say Emma is developing. She is no longer the teenage girl.

I am truly looking forward to her films- especially Noah. I don't buy DVDs in general, but I will buy Noah and the hobbit film and maybe Your Voice in my Head.I am really looking forward to how Emma plays Emma Forest in Emma Forest stream of consciousness novel, YVimH.

I don't think Emma can ever truly leave Hermione behind; she lived with her -- lived as her -- for probably the most formative ten years of her life, and, quite honestly, people who know Emma well -- even Emma herself -- have said that she's very much like Miss Granger. But it's wonderful to see her growing beyond that role, and stretching herself out to a wider range of parts and talents.

That said, I'm really sort of dreading "Your Voice in my Head." It's a terrible book with an annoying narrator/protagonist, withholding any insight from her narrative, and providing, instead of a look at suicidal ideation and how therapy addressed it, a memoir of her glamorous life encountering celebrities. I'll watch it -- with Emma in a role, there's nothing I won't watch -- but she's got an uphill climb to make it something worth caring about.

Leviathen,
the Emma F. role in YVimH I agree dreadful in some ways. Her stream of consciousness portrays a self-obsessed mind. I feel sorry for the person who has to live with such a self, but playing such a role and playing it well could be Oscar worthy.
EF's celebrity obsession and her tunnel vision of herself are disturbing, but the author is honestly portraying the emotions, thinking paths and life of a person who is mentally ill and is of desperate need of help.
As celebrity life it is a picture of disgust.

It is indeed an honest depiction of a vapid, self-centered, celebrity-obssessed and genuinely ill mind.

What it isn't, though, is what it claims to be, a look at how the hard work of a talented and intelligent therapist brought her through those issues, and helped her move past it to a state in which she could move forward without trying to off herself. Copied-and-Pasted entries from the therapist's funeral-home guest-book are no substitute for describing the theraputic process and how it worked for her.

Just as I'd hate to see Emma in 50 Shades of Grey, I'm going to be gritting my teeth through Your Voice in my Head for the same reason: I don't want to see Emma wasted on crap.

Hey, just read about the biggest stratovolcano in Iceland, where Emma is right now - Askja: "In early April 2012 it was noted that the lake in the caldera was totally clear of ice, which usually does not happen until in June or July in a normal year. It is believed that increased geothermal activity in the volcano is heating the lake. Travel in the area was restricted until further research could be carried out." Here's the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Askja That volcano is pretty far from Reykjavik, but the most strongest eruption of 1875 covered the whole Iceland!!! Signs of it where found even in Norway and Sweden!Repost anywhere and let others to know! Emma forget filming, save your life and GET TO HELL OUT OF THERE!!!

Leviathan,
haven't looked at it that way. I also agree with 50 Shades of Grey. I actually believe 50... could ruin a potentially solid career.Less films but worthy ones are much better for a serious, high-quality acting career.
I agree, I don't think YVimH is a depiction of a psychiatrists counseling. I kept looking for that twist in the Voice in her head that got her on a better path. But her stream of consciousness- no matter how vampid- is a depiction of a troubled mind, which could really enable Emma to show what she has in her as an actress. Now I would hate to see Emma role around as did the main character in the story. I believe this portrayal should also be discreet to particularly protect the Emma F. Some parts of our lives are no one's business.

Emma is sooooo lucky to be involved in a Darren Aronofsky film. Ila it seems is a larger role, since they have begun when Ila was just a small child found and taken in by Noah and his family. I am really looking forward to this film.I bet this will right up there with LORTR and a great competition for The Hobbit.
