Emma Watson and Derek Blasberg helped deliver meals to house-bound pensioners

Emma and Derek Watson volunteered on Monday and Tuesday for charity Citymeals-on-Wheels in New York, helping elderly residents who were affected by the storm Sandy.

They both posted these pictures on their twitters:

Emma:
@Citymeals - not sure how great my sense of direction is but I loved playing delivery woman.
@Citymeals - thank you for giving me such a rewarding way to help. #sandy

Derek:
Emma and me having another humbling, heart warming day delivering food to the homebound with City Meals on Wheels (www.citymeals.org for more info)
A day of giving meals to those in need with @EmWatson and the fine folks from @Citymeals. We gave, but we got much more

CityMeals:
Thank YOU for making a difference! RT @EmWatson: @Citymeals - thank you for giving me such a rewarding way to help. #sandy

Donating money or supplies is great, donating your time is even better. I have even more respect for Emma and Derek after I saw this the other day.

Such a lovely thing they did.

Great! Putting yourself in the physical position on doing something for someone else is wonderful. I hope it wasn't just for a few hours. But even for that respect!

Who is this Derek?

@Chris: I agree. Too many celebs just give money, or in most cases, have the audacity to stand there and ask struggling families to give money, when they have a ton that they could spare for that charity.

It's so nice to see Emma helping out and delivering food to the elderly. I'm sure she made quite a few people feel better about their situation that day.

@coslopus - yeah some celebs just give money. but atleast it's better then nothing. also take into consideration that not all the celebs live in NY so they can't physicaly go and help. i remember the tsunami quiet a bit of celebs went over there to visit.

Money is also very important. The fact is that everything costs alot of money. But when celebs can sever themselves from the red carpet and truly do something for the poor, and look at the lives of the less fortunate and act- now that is truly helping.

I agree. What you read about her, and what others say about her that have met her and have worked with her, it seems that she is genuinely a very good person. I think that is also part of her attractiveness and charm. People feel the warmth and goodness radiating from her- this special kind of innocense. I believe, that is also a reason why she is so successful. People like that. When she uses this innocense, this mark of goodness, then I think her career will begin to falter. I don't mean with innocense living in a nunnery, but leading a normal, non self-obsorbant life.

Yes, I agree. Emma radiates a special kind of innocence. She's innocent but is not naive because when you look at her and listen to her interviews especially the more serious ones, you'd see a sense of awareness and maturity to her. What I love most about her is how she accepts her vulnerability as a human being. She acknowledges her flaws, her insecurities. She has a deep sense of awareness of who she is. She stays grounded even after spending almost a half of her lifetime being in a eye of the hurricane that the Harry Potter phenomenon has brought her. All of us (except Daniel and Rupert) will never truly understand how it's like to grow up as the "kid from Harry Potter". Theirs is a unique experience and I believe that the three of them will always have this soul-deep bond. The bottomline is, I find it very inspirational how Emma has maintained her sanity and decency after all these years. I know that she'll probably make mistakes someday but I know that she has and continues to inspire me with her humanity.

Who doesn't make mistakes and that is OK. I would just hate to see her sell herself- her person, character out for roles that don't befit her. I think when she sells out, she will lose that nuance that is also attractive to directors and producers. There are a lot of stars out there- good actors and bad actors- who make negative headlines. I personally don't think their creativity is enhanced, rather it is psychologically stumped. Good actors are basically vulnerable yes, but normal. Mar. Monroe was good for awhile, but when she started to lose control, she also began to lose in directors wanting to work with her.
