Mentions of Emma Watson in the media [June 22 - 28, 2015]

  • Niall Horan (One Direction) mentions Emma:

Niall was promoting his band's new fragrance to Sugarscape when he was asked "What if the fragrance was a girl?" Here's his answer:

  • Holly Madison mentions Emma:

The former Playboy bunny exclusively told Eonline that she's in talks to turn her new tell-all memoir Down the Rabbit Hole into a TV movie. When asked who would be her ideal cast to play her, she answers:
I would pick somebody young because they'd have to be playing me when I started at 21. I'd pick Emma Watson or Lily James. Lily James is my favorite.

So, just take Nicki Moore from The Bling Ring, cut her IQ by half and her class by four-fifths, and Emma'd be good to go.

I think I'd rather watch her clean her bathroom for two hours, to be honest with you.

I agree Jonathan. Emma is too talented; she does not need to play such useless biop roles. How does a playboy bunny change the world for better? We all get horny, but if one's life becomes a life's symbol, well...

That would be a terrible way of self presentation.

After her dealings with the 50yr old, fat and ugly producer (Harvey Weinstein) and going to clubs with him in his car, even to adult strip clubs like The box club in London, I think she should have a lot of insights for the business and the role. The net is full of pictures about it.

I think that you are both being incredibly rude and are objectifying Holly Madison. Emma has probably not even seen the comment. Holly wants to warn young girls of her mistake and what the two of you are doing is gender stereotyping which is what Emma is fighting against.

Emma is fighting against gender stereotyping? Really, by getting photographed every other day with extremely revealing or very little clothing? By going to strip clubs and being related to a producer famous for his casting couch methods to young starlets? I am a man but it seems I am fighting much more against women being taken for sex objects than Emma who’s an announced feminist. In all my years, nobody has ever seen part of my body or my tits or my underwear outside my house. I never wore a short up to my ass to go shopping. Look at the clothes she is photographed wearing or going out. Can you imagine George Clooney wearing a short up to his ass to be interviewed by Latterman? This is what I’m talking about…

Dear anonymous above,

Choice is an integral element to feminism i.e women should have the choice to be payed equally to their male counterparts, men should have the choice on what defines masculine instead of there being these arbitrary and discriminating rules and regulations on the two issues I have mentioned. Women and men should be able to wear what they want and how little they want without people, like you, judging them. What Emma is wearing in these photos is hardly scandalous and it's a shame she is condemned for something so tedious- the amount of skin revealed. In addition, women don't make themselves sex objects, they are objectified by a third party. If you're sexually objectifying a woman for wearing clothes that show off her legs and top of her chest then I think you should do some serious soul searching. I find your view distasteful and old fashioned.

Also, 'going to strip clubs and being related to a producer famous for his casting couch methods to young starlets?' Seriously? You're judging her based on gossip.
Lastly, 'nobody has ever seen part of my body or my tits or my underwear outside my house' if only it was more acceptable for men to wear less clothing and dress how they like, that way you could show off your cleavage too.

Dear friend above,
(1) Going to strip clubs and being related to a producer famous for his casting couch methods to young starlets are not gossip. There photos and articles all over the net, from legitimate media (i.e. MTV). Going to the clubs in his Rolls, entering the club (next to its sign, grabbing her outside the club) etc. As a feminist, just going to such a club is an oxymoron. And then she’s preaching continuously that she’s so uncomfortable with sexy. I wouldn’t like such a role model for my kid sister or my future daughter. I used to, but not now that I’ve seen them.
(2) What is acceptable by society to wear it was not decided by one specific entity. It became customary from both men and women in society over time. Men (as providers) attracted the female with (food) money and women attracted men selling sex. This is basically what defines the less or more we wear and unfortunately why celebrities wear less and less and also the relation with producers.
(3) I wouldn’t be complaining if it was just for the sexy clothing. I could say that as a man, things serve me fine anyway. What annoys me is that she’s preaching and condemning others who dress like this (Beyonce, Paris Hilton) and at the same time she does it too. Promoting this Mother Teresa image while being the opposite is what gets me angry. Besides, if dressing is a matter of choice why then does she attacks others who do it?
(4) Psychology 101: Man sexually, operates optically (to a great extend). Choosing to provoke him to achieve his favoritism is what I condemn. We have the freedom of choice bat we also have the freedom to think… Nobody can convince me that high-heels and minis up to your ass is more practical clothing manner.

Even Emma has to be consistent in her selfie. I admire her talent, but sometimes I wonder... I hope she focuses on her talent and intelligence for her fame. But negative self-presentation is part of the game. Very few actors and actors seem to be true to themselves. I missed one great lady Cate Blanchett. Now that is a true woman. Emma is still trying to grow out of being a girl. Sexualizing yourself is not the way. I am not saying she is doing this, but playing such a role surly would.

I have only seen one set of photos of Emma with Harvey Weinstein and they were taken four years ago - she still had short hair. From what I read it was not a date but part of a BAFTA Party where several actors partied afterwards. This is quite common in the movie business. I would not believe any other rumours from sites which are well known as being not particularly pro-Emma.

Dear Vicky, there were actually 2 parties, 1 before the BAFTA and 1 afterwards. A lot of celebs attended both. In both parties Emma was driven to and from, by Harvey Weinstein’s Rolls, together with her model-friend Sophie Sumner. If you want, I can provide you with the names of the clubs and more details later on as I’m in a hurry right now. The incident with the strip club named BOX CLUB was in a different night. She was driven there, again, by Weinstein’s car. There are photos of her entering the club as she walks next to the sign and of living it where she look a bit strange. A lot of legitimate media published them. Same night she was wearing the very revealing blue dress (nip slips etc). A lot of those pictures everywhere. Nobody talked about a date. Weinstein is married and besides his bad name and the lawsuits against him, he is a professional and protects himself (as much as he can). He wouldn’t go out on a date with her like he is 16yo. He is in his 50s. Look, if I had a male boss known for hitting on younger guys and he would invite me to his party in a gay club and he would offer to take me there with his limo, I would not go. Unless …

I think you are over-playing her being together with Harvey Weinstein. He is a producer, and I guess she was invited, but I doubt anything inappropriate happened.
A young person at that age is often not very intelligent and adroit in self-presentation. There world is just fun. But the problem is as a celebrity all the partys, dates, kisses you may share with someone is pulled out of proportion. I agree with anon earlier, that she must be careful how she presents herself. I think Emma has understood that her actions make media. She acts as a intelligent, mature woman now who is 25 years old.n
