looks like she's just seen the reviews :D
I thought something similiar, and then looked up in horror.
One of the reviews said the film is almost saved from mediocrity by Emma Watson. It's something sort of positive... Sort of.
Most of them say she's the worst in the movie. I agree. Sorry Emma. I love you, but no.
Another review says Davis Thewlis was the worst, that and Amenabar's direction, I saw the movie and I liked it LOL, it's not the worst movie but it happens that Amenabar is considered one of the best spanish directors and people were expecting a master piece, clearly Regression isn't. Almost every review says that the movie was average and doesn't have Amenabar's "touch", it's just a thriller like many others, and I agree. I was expecting an horrible movie after reading the reviews, I was ready to hate it, but at the end I liked it xD, I found many people liking too and many others that hated it, that "turn" at the end is dividing opinions, there's people that liked it and other people that hated it. But yeah it wasn't a great movie.
There are very few horror movies that are made nowadays that are widely considered "great" or "horrifying" or "classic."
The "twist" leaves a bad aftertaste.
A lot of reviews praise Emma Watson's and Ethane Hawke's acting, but the reviews criticize the way the storyline was taken and the way the film was shot. Some of them say that Emma Watson and Ethan Hawke sort of save the film from being a failure with their acting and bring the film to a mediocre level.
Satanic horror stories are usually not good as literature or films. The best directors stay away from such ideas. They frighten people and leave a 'bad aftertaste' but the normal person would not want to see such a film a second time.I think it is great that it got bad reviews as a whole because of the subject matter as a whole.
Does it seem like Emma's career is slowing down? Sure she did Regression, Colonia and BatB for 2017 but there is nothing in Development other tan Queen of Tearling, and Heyman seems to have other films in pre-production that makes QoT on the waiting list. The beam of starlight seems to be fading. Is that the reason why she started her book club?
^ The hype of post HP has dyed down and in a way she's been found out. She is average at best. Younger actresses are coming through now. I doubt Queen of Tearling will happen - no way studios will risk her being the main role, she simply doesn't appeal to a bigger audience outside her fanbase. If she is wise she should tread the boards like Dan did.
I agree, I believe she has potential, but she has not developed her possibilities. I still RADA or Tisch would have served her well. She has talent but not enough of emotional flexibility to yet portray more difficult characters. HP was great, but the 10 years did not help them to get out of the HP corset. If she is truly serious about being an actress and director, I think she should go for training. A degree from an Ivy league Brown is nice, but so what for what she says she truly wants to do. Oh Well, it is her business. But she talks about these things, one reads and listens and forms one's own opinions.
