So its possible, that the release date can be similar also in the USA and Europe? I hope so..they can at least release a trailer or something :(

Got to say I'd find it strange if Brazil got it released before the US, so I think it'll either be the same date for the US or before. No clue for Europe though.

Eden, did you read the book? There are couple of scenes of Emma's character that we have never seen her doing before, if you know what I mean, do you think that she would do sexual scenes??

I haven't and it's killing me!!! XD I tried to find a PDF somewhere as I can't spend money for anything but food and bills right now, but I couldn't find one. Don't hesitate to spoil me though :p

No, they made the movie PG13 so no sex.
But if you read the book you would already know the idiotic plot right? They have thrown that out too because it simply doesn't work in movies. It was stupid in a book too but in a movie it would be idiotic. For those who don't care about spoilers: basically the guy emma's character has sex in the book is the owner of the company who somehow managed to stay unknown even though everyone should know him, and the way he did that is by having grey hair that he would show to emma's character but he would hide from everyone else. So when emma's character would ask someone "hey who's that guy with the grey hair I met a moment ago?" they wouldn't know that it was him. But yeah, again they have pretty much thrown out that story line. There is no such a stupid "twist". Although it's possible she will have sex scenes because emma's character is kind of a whore in the book. She's having sex with like 3 guys at the same time. The other two are not dependent on the stupid plot I talked about so it's possible sex scenes with them will happen. That one guy with premature ejaculation problem, I wonder if they kept that in lmao

Anon above, where did you read that its PG13?

To the person asking about the sex scenes, I read the book too and many sex scenes are pointless, they don't add anything important to the plot and are completely unnecessary, in the book there are like two sex scenes between Mae (Emma's character) and Francis, and I noticed he is not listed in the cast on the IMDb page, so I guess they dind't include him in the film, which I like because that character is pointless, the movie is not rated yet so I guess we can expect at least one scene like that between Mae and Kalden (John Boyega), the other guy is Mercer (Ellar Coltrane) but they never have sex in the book because he's her ex boyfriend, there are just a lot of fight scenes between them. I guess we can expect one sex scene between Mae and Kalden, but it is possible that they are gonna add some passionate kiss scene and that's it, the sex scene is not that important.

@Daff But you forgot, the only reason those sex scenes between Mae and Kalden happen is because she has no idea about who Kalden really is. They have thrown out that story line out of the movie, essentially making all those secret encounters and sexapades impossible.

I think they completely went without sex in the movie because sex is so terribly done in the book it's not even funny. It's like sex scenes were written by a 12 year old girl that never had sex. It's just cringy and awkward. While reading the book I couldn't wait to just get passed those parts.

Thanks for the comments. I was considering reading the book, but maybe now I'll wait and see the movie first. I personally don't have much of a taste for sexy pop-"literature" (as opposed to fantasy or fiction upfront about its intent) in the first place.

Daff said...

Yeah, I noticed that too, but they can do exactly the same thing with kiss scenes, and if they did the sex scenes I'm sure they have better ones, because James Ponsoldt is such a good writer and he's very good at improving a book for a movie adaptation.

Hey Eden, I also read somewhere (I can't remember where) that there is a release date for Netherlands and it's also November 10.

Thanks, Daff :)

PDXP - dont listen to anon above you, this book contain maybe 10 lines of sex at all, you should read the book first, and its definitely not a sexy pop literature :)

JozefL thanks for the clarification, maybe I got the wrong impression. I was on the fence whether I would read the book or not anyway. Too many things to read as it is, and I often find new, popular entries in literature disappointing. Still, every time I go to the bookstore I see that attractive cover art and consider it.

I have read the book won't do spoilers as Eden is reading it now! The distribution of the movie is very odd as is the classification PG13 not because of sex scenes but the adult themes of the book, personal integrity vie corporate and personal materialism. Even as a parody is is not a kids book.

But then there is so little information about the movie it hard to tell. Have to rely on Brazil Anon for a review :)

correction distributor is called Europacorp @europaCorpus

Thank-you. I read the book and thought-na ja. The topic was interesting and kind of scary, but the so called sexual relationships were adolescent, but I thought all the characters plus the bosses were regressed in the emotional and even social development. I think though, that is the irony that Eggert wanted to create. I was laughing at how childish all the Circle characters were. It was like a bunch of kids playing video games, but that is the point. They play with safety and privacy and are regressed. That is the irony of the book and which makes it so good. The sex is pointless as it often is with people who have random sex- below adolescence, only the pleasure hype. This becomes very obvious with Francis and Mae in one scene. I was grossed out and laughing. It was like kids who like to do gross things to shock. I think the movie should be enjoyable though.

Last Anon, that's why I think they didn't include Francis in the film, his part doesn't add anything important to the main story. The plot is very interesting, with very good material for a movie, but it has flaws, like the random sex scenes between Mae and Francis, also the author never explain how Mae never recognize Ty (I hope they have a better explanation for that in the movie). But I'm sure Pondsoldt has a good script since he's the writer.

I'm excited for this movie, if the movie has its premiere at TIFF or Venice, I think we're gonna have the trailer in August.

Right DAff, I agree. I am looking forward to see how Ponsoldt puts that irony onto the screen- flashy, intelligent, rich adolescents controling the world. I just loved the way Eggert played with the psychology of the human personality. I was roaring with laughter.
