Mentions of Emma Watson in the media [Aug 15 - 21, 2016]

  • Emma is the most influential celebrity among the British teenagers

Actors, activists, politicians, sports stars and YouTube sensations: Radio Times tried to find out who British teenagers look up to most of all – and the results are quite surprising.

Harry Potter star Emma Watson was named the most influential star among 13-18 year-olds, but the Top 20 teenage heroes also include everyone from Barack Obama and Usain Bolt to Jennifer Lawrence and Brian Cox.

1. Emma Watson

Since leaving Harry Potter, Emma Watson's celebrity and influence has soared. She is a UN Women's Goodwill Ambassador, working to empower women across the world, and has led the HeForShe gender equality campaign.

She'll also be starring in Disney's latest blockbuster remake of Beauty and the Beast, and has racked up over 22 million followers on Twitter.

  • Nolan Gould (Modern Family) has a big fat crush on Emma

“All day, every day, Emma Watson,” he said when asked about his celeb crush. “Not only is she like beautiful but she’s really smart and really passionate about a lot of great causes.”

Could not agree more Nolan and I should go bowling :)

I find his character on MF so gross, though. Assuming he's not really like that, I hope he branches out.

Haha, Nolan Gould is a member of Mensa and graduated school at age 13 or something. He is evidently quite clever and smart. I highly doubt that he is much like his character on MF in real life..

Ridiculous and embarrassing. She is a grown woman-

She is 26 and he is 18 and he was just asked for his celebrity crush

"22 million followers on Twitter."

How many of those are real people? I recall Emma had something like 7 million before she joined the HeForShe thing. A clue is in the likes and retweets in her posts which is no where near high as her so called followship is suppose to be.

Not just picking on Emma here but the likes of Katy Perry, Kim K etc have many fake followers some of which are bots no doubt. The 'clue' is in the likes and retweets ;)

They are as real as you Anonymous. Collate your analysis; with 91 millions hits for the Bella trailer her being voted most popular amongst teens in the UK and her request to join the oscar academy committee against the fact she seems to care lot less about such things than we do.

For the record the "HeforShe" thing is making a difference to a lot of people's lives.

Bella trailer would have been just as popular without Emma. Millions want to see this classic story told with Emma or whoever. She doesn't have that much star power anymore - Beauty is a big moment for her - can see carry a movie pretty much on her own? The jury is still out sadly.

Also how do you know that youtube didn't fake those viewings? They have been caught out in the past you know......

Ross Taggart said...

You know that is not true other Disney productions of the same sort have not come close. She has grwat star power refer to my previous answer. Many things are faked but the all havea point, desides why would youtude do such a thing for someone with no star power?

Anonymous said...

as i said it's because it's this film and this type of take on it nothing really to do with Emma at all.....

Is this the real world?

Point of fact Disney has been after Emna for while she turned down the chance to do Cinderella. They regard it as a coup getting her for Beauty and the Beast.

in 2011 post potter maybe besides that's all PR bs

No it is a multi million dollar industry that takes such decisions very seriously. She was courted for the role as she has the pulling power they needed. This is fact a a decision by hard nosed business types.

Well, I am truly looking forward to seeing Emma in BEuty and the Beast; sure another person could play the role, but Disney wanted Emma and got her for this role. I think it is crucial to her career that she pulls off the role well and the boxoffice success is secured. Regression and Colonia were boxoffice slumps. Although I think Colonia will do very well in DVD. I watched it the second time and studied her every move in the film. She was very good and at moments excellent. There were a couple of wooden moments, but that could be my projection of how I would produce emotions.

lol where did you get this from?

Ross Taggart said...

Where I get everything from Anon verifiable fact. Disney have the same opinion of Emma as I do all be it for different reasons.

I actually watched Colonia again last night it is very good but politically sensitive. Given what I now know about how the moive business works in terms of production and distribution that was possibly a bigger factor than I thought. Emmas activism also plays a role the whole process of investigating this aspect of show business was fascinating actually.

After the success of Alice in wonder land movies Disney wanted to extend there stable into live action starting with Cinderella. Emma was the first choice she turned it down. Later she must have had more time as she was approached first for Beauty and the Beast and agreed to do it.

Given the response to the trailer it was a wise move. Look it up all I have said is a matter of record.

You never had a crush on a celebrity when you were young? Heck, on the youtube interviews of Emma you see a bunch of kids talking about their crush on Emma. Hey, better her than someone like Kim Kardashian.
