This is how they get the beast look. I remember the same process being shown in the creation of Gollum played by Andy Serkis: absolutely fascinating.
Just an aside. I watched the last two HP movies, and was stunned how well the trio acted in the film. The next day, I watched Fantastic Beasts and was disappointed. The HP film, especially the first two (Chris Columbus created the world on film) and the last three films of the story line. Fantastic Beast's story line is very weak, stuffed with characters where in the first take one did not know how they participated in the concept of the story. I think it would have been so much better if they began with the mirror of book 1 where Harry saw his parents any many other people. The film would have had more coherence if the author had delved into the HP past and led the story with the grandparents of the main characters. One always wondered what happened to the Potter family other than Lilly and James being murdered by Riddle. In my opinion, the storyline would have been more solid. Now there are all new characters, which have no connection to the main tale- other than the Beasts textbook.
The effects were astonishing and Eddie Redmayne gave a great performance as a whole when he didn't mumble. That mumbling reminds me when old people's false teeth loosen and their speech is affected. Now Newt and the Beasts will be flying around Paris, whoopey dooo.

Ok, I have seen "The Circle" and I will give my opinion, but it is only my opinion, of course :) the movie is quite mediocre, it has no substance, auqnue the subject of social networks is very good, they have not been able to do A good movie, barely gets hooked, is quite boring.
The performance of Emma, very bland and boring, as it happens in all the movies I've seen, including the beautiful and the beast no matter how much they have given a prize, their performance is very mediocre, does not act, it seems to have the script In front and is reading, does not express any emotion.
So, personally, it's not a movie that I would recommend, and as far as Emma would say, please go to a school of interpretation or stop being an actress apra always, because she really needs a training, fame is not everything To be an actress, you have to know how to act.

Last i saw on RT its still scoring pretty low. According to Box Office Mojo its budget was about 18 million but it has yet to make that after being out for a few weeks.

For those that have seen the film i have read that the script was poorly executed so do you think that the director and script writer didnt push enough boundaries? Or was it just to convoluted with too much going on?

As to Emma's acting i dont think she is quite as bad as people have made her out to be. I thought she was excellent in BATB compared to some of the other work ive seen outside of HP. But, as pointed out above its just an opinion and everyone's differs.

Will be interesting to see where she goes from here.

I agree, she needs training. I thought she wonderful as Hermoine, but she has not developed her skills. She was quite good in Colonia, but interpretation is a problem. Like in The Circle she screams when she is told that she got a job at the circle. That reaction was so contrived. I just rolled my eyes. I think Emma has potential, but she is skipping in place. I do not think she realizes that she lacks the acting skills (interpretation skills) for adult roles at this point. Sometimes I think she is acting an adult Hermoine. The other two always took other roles that varied their acting skills, but Emma played Hermoine for over 10 years with no other roles except for the Cartoon Despereaux, in which I thought they carved the princess out to meet Hermoine half way. She also played in The Ballet Shoes; I felt she did a good job for a teen. But that is no longer enough, she is an adult.

When it comes to acting, I think that Emma has great potential, but she never lets herself 'go'. She seems so nervous and anxious. I even see it in most interviews and red carpet appearances.
I think that's something she developed after the first 2 HP movies, because back then it was all new, and she probably wasn't confident as she herself said, but when you're a kid letting 'go' without getting too worked/overthinking and becoming a nervous wreck is much easier.
I remember David Yates said something similiar about the deleted Malfoy Manor scenes; he said that Emma let go and unlocked something within herself that would make her a great actress. I dunno if it's just me, but in certain scenes, when I only look at Emma,I can see this emotion building up but then this sudden barrier comes on and she sort of breathes hard and/or crinkles her nose or eyebrows, and looks a little unsure & nervous- which looks like anxiety to me. Its just something I noticed in her acting; but I couldn't put my finger on it immediately.

You're forgetting "The Bling Ring". That was a big departure from what we'd seen from her. I'm also tempted to throw "Perks" in there, but I haven't seen the movie.

Yes, Holly, I have not forgotten these movies, I have seen all their movies, all, and I have to say that I just liked something else in Cologne, and it was not a performance of 10 either.
As I always say this is just my opinion.
In The Bling Ring, the movie looked pretty bad to me, and all performances including Emma's, very mediocre. It was a totally different role to Hermione, and I was looking forward to a totally different performance, but what it encintre, was a very overacted act, not natural, it seemed Emma tried to be a "bad girl" and Perks, I happened the same, Many people say that it has been their best role, but to me I was disappointed enough, very overacted and their American accent rather mediocre.
In all his films I have seen it very overacted and with lack of emotion, without feeling, it seems that he is always thinking that he has to say, that face put, it is like that is tense.
Do not misunderstand me, I do not hate Emma, I like a hard-working and responsible chcia, but as an actress is not the best of her generation, there are actresses much better than them, and that unfortunately is not so popular.

She was very good in perks, but Logan Lerman stole the show as Charley. Ezra Miller was also excellent. She has a lot of talent, but she needs training in interpretating a role. Her excitement in roles always rises to a hysteria, and at times inappropriate.

I wish she would do something to help herself to be able to uncoil into a natural performance.

In The Bling Ring, his performance was quite bad, in fact the whole movie was quite pathetic. In the discussion of the MTV has said that the action is the ability to get into the character, to be another person, because I'm afraid Emma, you do not get it, because it's always Emma trying to be Belle, Emma trying to be Mae, Emma Trying to be Nikki ..... never gets to merge with her characters, not even with Belle, who has a personality very similar.

I gotta say I agree with a couple of Anons up here. I love the girl since her HP years, I am a big superfan or whatever you want to call me but I honestly think she needs to do more than what she does. Aside from 5-6 times I always thought she was ok in the HP saga, very good if I may. But after that, nothing more. It's like she's stopped developing her acting skills, blocked in a stage where she can only portray young adults or teens (something I'm not even sure considering how bad her perfomance was in Bling Ring and Regression, though I gotta admit that those two movies were mediocre to begin with).

In agreement with the Anon up here, I don't think she's totally bad though: honestly, aside Hermione, I really appreciated her in "Colonia" acknowledging that, after all, there is still potential within her. And there's another reason: just look at her when she's not filming, so in interviews or things like that, and you'll see lots of different faces, expressions, so she know how to espress herself. Paradoxically, when she's filming, she become blocked and stuck on same faces or with espressions too accentuated/stressed on which wipes away any credibility she would have.

It's like she feels a lot of anxiety (I'm convinced that this is mainly because she genuinely does everything she can to be perfect not knowing that, another paradox, this makes her feel not credible at all). She needs to relax, and she should train more, like doing more theatre or television.

I know she's waybetter than she is now, she only needs to believe that herself and be opened to a lot more training :)

Sorry, I must have misunderstood your initial comment, I thought you said that in every role she's played so far since "HP", she was just playing another Hermione or something. That's why I mentioned her character in "The Bling Ring", because the role was different.

Although I disagree with you here, as far as her acting is concerned (I thought she was good in "The Bling Ring", maybe because that was a character that allowed her to express a more superficial side, which can be fun for an actor, I guess), I do agree when you say she can't seem to be able to let go and immerge herself into the characters she plays in general. She seems to be too self conscious. I don't blame her though, maybe it comes from the fact that she grew up in the public eye, has been scrutinized from an early age, and don't feel comfortable enough to let go.

I agree with almost every comment here, except for The Bling Ring, I think she was really good in the movie, she just acted exactly like the girl she was portraying in real life, it's a shame the movie was so bad, I feel that her performance would be much more apreciated in a better film, I think she´s a good actress with a lot of potential but sometimes it seems like she lacks of confidence.

Now speaking of the Circle, I read the script and is a complete mess, no character development, lots of plot holes and you never know what happened to Mae's friend, it's like the script was cut multiple times and left out all the little details that makes a movie into a good one, it also seems that they changed the end, that's why they made re-shoots in January, I don't know what happened, I blame the studio, seems like they didn't trust in their director and on top of that they put Dave Eggers as screenwriter.

Well having the author as screenwriter can be a perfect move. Look at Chbosky with Perks of being a Wallflower. He is author, acted as screenwriter and director. The film was rated in the high 7+ or 8.
The book, the Circle was intertaining but adolescent. The book you really do not know what happened to her friend other than she is in some kind of coma.
Emma really needs to be better in recognizing a good script. Alicia Vikander left the role. She mentioned once that her father read the script to The Danish Girl, and told her she should take the role. I do not think Emma as yet has the skill to differentiate between a good script and bad script.

Anon, I mentioned Dave Eggers as a bad thing for the movie, because his book is not the better source material to begin with. The topic of the book is really interesting but the book itself is bad, I always thought James Pondsolt was going to improve it, but that didn't happen, and as a result it seems now that the book is better than the movie (because the script for the movie is even worse than the book).

I agree, Harry Potter stories are much better than Fantastic beasts. It doesn't build on anything other than the creatures in Hagrid's hut.

Holy fuck get some taste and stop being a broken record emma watson did a good job with what little she was given she gave a very good performance and has done so in prettymuch everything, what shit actors do you like why the fuck are you even here?

And yea Hp was much better than fantastic beasts

Emma is one of the only actresses her age that actually can act and acts different, try actually watching films, you guys think Emma Stone can act because she got an award like Jlaw? lmfao they act the exact same in everything. Emma was amazing in HP and was very good in Noah, BATB, Perks and Colonia. Plus she killed it in the bling ring. Shes not just good shes very good, of course she can improve but you guys are either blind or women she can act around most actresses her age without even trying.

Anonymous said...

i dont know why I even bother commenting but you guys clearly only watch oscarbait and crap. The danish girl was a shit script and vikander was shit in the role which she took because she gets naked, lol she acts like a robot in everything because she is one. Emma has picked honest scripts, there are barely any good films being made today, perks the bling ring and noah are some of the best recent films, let alone beauty and the beast which was refreshing.

Just would like to point out that it is possible to praise an actress without shitting on others.

"Just would like to point out that it is possible to praise an actress without shitting on others."

Pretty much.

I still think "some" people are overly harsh on EW and im not entirely sure why. Its ok to be critical but some of the things that are said just comes across more as dire hatred than honest criticism. Is it some kind of envy or jealously? Who knows. But you dont really need to tear down other actors or actresses to make an assertion about Emma.

Vikander was excellent on The Danish Girl, and the script was excellent. The transgender topic of this artist was beautifully and sensitively protrayed. Vikander is an excellent actress; no Emma by far does not have Vikander's range, but I think few actresses of her age do. Vikander demonstrates a clear understanding of interpreting a character. Having a father who is a psychiatrist or psychologist helps.
Emma is good, but until now she has only shown teen characters or like Mae, characters who are arrested development.

Why do you say that The Danish Girl was a 'shit script' when everyone knows that this film and script has gotten the highest honors in script, production, directing and acting. That film was so well done, the critics were pretty much awed. It got oscar nominations, and their are certain criteria that needs to be met in order for a film to be mature enough in every way to be in for oscar consideration.
