It's indeed a bit disapointing she didn't go, it would have been a great chance to see her. She could even have sung the song !

she should retire now this is obviously a peak

Congratulations, Emma! You're as great as these awards, and also a great female of our time! Bravo! :D

I'm having the feeling Emma is done with acting. I know this has been discussed many times before, but that she didn't attend (even though she won everything) feels like a confirmation to me. Wouldn't it have been a good oppertunity to shine in the spotlights, and remind the world of her? Would you like to share your thoughts on this Eden? I definitely don't wanna start another lame discussion about Emma's acting skills or w/e though, I'm just curious what you think :)

I don't think she's done with acting at all. I feel like she only goes to these kind of popularity awards when she has something to promote. Also, she already won awards at the TCA before but never put a foot at the ceremony. I also like to think that she might be busy in England with work-related stuff, though that's probably wishful thinking (and naïvety XD). I believe when she'll be done with acting she'll say so. But I'm sure she knows that acting is what gives her such a big platform to promote feminism so I'm not really worried about her quitting. At least not just yet :)

She has missed award shows before, this isnt anything new. With all that said if she is done and wants to move on to other things than great. Maybe she is thinking of starting a family, maybe she wants to concentrate on her activism or something else. The world is her oyster right now and she can do anything she wants. If she does retire than we all can just enjoy the work that she did and wish her the best on her new adventure in life.

Good point that she didn't attend before, didn't realise that! Glad you feel this way, it's comforting haha. Emma is pretty much the only actor I've always actively followed and I admire her promotion for feminism, sustainable clothing, etc. :)

very well deserve, you go girl hoping for the best future to you, my most favorite human being. xoxo from India

I think she just doesn't seem to enjoy this big popular events and only attends when she is "obliged" by contracts or she needs to promote something. Obviously she either took a break from acting or she's being too selective with roles. I tend to adopt the first option though. The family thing could be right too, I do not know. I guess we can only speculate and make all kinds of weird theories about it. And this only happens because the lack of news, obviously... lol

Not going to this doesnt mean anything. No news now for such a long time does tho. 2015 was the last time she was on a movie set. We are almost at 2018.

Teen Choic Award is not prestigious. I also believe she wants to move away from teen items in film.
I also believe that she has reached her peak, and I do not believe the offers she wants are waiting for her. She may make a film now and then, but I don't think she is going to roll out one film after another. Maybe she is concentrating on her personal life more.
But I do not think she is getting the film offers.

I think is hard to believe that she's not getting roles, I'm sure she's getting them but i have a feeling it's not the king of roles she wants, maybe she's struggling to find more serious and mature roles, also I don't think she's quitting, if that's the case then why she changed agencies? Her absence at the TCA doesn't mean anything, but it's still strange she doesn't have any movies after all this time.

Anonymous said...

I think her changing agencies might have been a bit out of frustration after losing out on LLL, but also maybe in an attempt to attract different attention in the industry?

Idk, but I definitely agree about the "more mature roles" thing. I'm sure she'd like to be seen in a more adult light by now. The problem is that the majority of her fan base still appears to be very young, so she might be nervous about losing them if she moves on to more mature material.

Emma has done 1 movie per year since harry potter.its ok if she takes 1-years gap from movies.also she said she want to do roles that opposite to her personality like she did bling ring, so i guess she is waiting for that kind of roles, as she already has done roles which generally suits her personality like beauty, perks, etc so i guess she is waiting for to do something different.

Anonymous said...

That is what I mean. She does not want teen roles. I hope her demands have not turned directors off.

Daff said...

Anon, there's nothing wrong with taking 1 year, the thing is that it's gonna be 2 years already since the last time she was in a movie set, and she clearly said she was gonna take just 1 year.
When she was promoting The Circle in Paris she said she was doing "different" things now, but she's always so vague when she talks about her projects, so I don't know what she meant. I hope she takes a new role before 2017 is over, now if she wants to have a family and spend her time with that there's nothing we can do :P

I would love to try her hand at screenwriting, producing and directing in the long run. She should seek diversity in her roles to hone her skills. Two years is a long time to wait before getting attached to another set. I read somewhere- can't recall- that she would like to do theater next. I think that would be great. An actor really works on their acting skills (emotions, body language)for the stage. That would do Emma good. It definately helped daniel radcliffe to be more expressive and rupert even better.

What about the ejecutive role in Queen of the tearling?

Anonymous said...

i highly doubt that project will happen at this point. been in limbo for way too long.

Thaïs said...

Not sure something like Queen can succeed next to those Outlander or Game of Thrones series that remind of the period.

I think Emma has found other interests, and I do not mean her activism, which certainly has not helped her career nor has she developed anything distinctive therein. She only repeated what has been said and corrected throughout the years. And it is a sham to talk about getting a million less than a male star. I wonder if the male stars got the 16 million from Beauty and the Beast. She is like a pretty butterfly swaying from flower to flower: remaining beautiful but unlike the butterfly not really good at anything. She has almost reached the expectancy of achievement in the acting world- lucky for HP- she would never have had a career. But to be fair that is the same for all big stars. They had a breakthrough in one thing and it developed from there. I love the development of Ron Howard's career. He started in acting. He acknowledged that he was not a great actor and that his talents lie in the directing area. He is a great director, and really understands a stor4y.

"It is a sham to talk about getting a million less than a male star."

First off to all u ppl trying to dismiss her feminism by saying-"oooh she only talks about hollywood wage gap; how privileged, etc." : She literally said she would NOT complain/talk about her own situation, when someone asked her in a Q and A. She has mentioned the wage gap, but it wasn't specifically hollywood level, and she never referred to herself.

Secondly, no matter if its working class or hollywood level, wage gap is still a problem. Obviously the one at working class level and such is more important.

You probably don't know shit about what she has done in her activism. Its been 3 years, she's 27, and she's already been doing different things/events in her activism to meet different people, talk about different experiences, interview a variety of people (mainly writers/activists), raise awareness, etc. And you want her to be 'distinctive'.
Sometimes, i feel like people hold her to very high standards, just so that they can criticize. And people do this to many activists, in general, which is just annoying as hell.

Daff said...

The wage gap between actors and actresses is a REAL issue, just look at the highest paid actresses vs highest paid actors, the difference is huuuuuuge, the fact that Emma is making 16 million doesn't mean that there isn't a problem, how many actresses like Emma can ask for more than her co-stars? Just a few.

And you make it sound like she's been talking too much about it when in reality she rarely mentions it, I'm sure she supports her fellow actresses and their demands but every time she talks about the wage gap, she does it in general terms, always talking about regular women. Now that I think of it I don't have any memory of her denouncing an unfair salary (for her), it's always been about other women.

Anonymous said...

yes he has referred to herself. She mentioned that she has personally felt this injustice. There have been other debates about her attitude. She has already turned people off with it.

Anonymous said...

Emma can do whatever she wants. She has the money to do that. Hollywood wont wait tho. Beauty was a huge success but she didnt do anything with it.

Anonymous said...

Now she has to be just as good as an actress. Beauty and the Beast would have been a cash in for anyone like HP. Her acting skills leave a lot to be desired and don't deserve the top pay in the realm of skill. She gets the top money for being a name. Big Deal! She is not that good of an actress.

Anonymous said...

She is fading. I think she realizes that- quit before it gets embarassing or do something to improve.

Anonymous said...

It is quite true that there is a wage gap between men and women in hollywood, but I remind you that Emma has gained an exorbitant amount for the Beauty and the Beast, when her acutacion was rather mediocre and her companions acted better than she, and they earned less money, because she is the protagonist.

I think she is a very confused young woman.

Anonymous said...

how is she confused?

Anonymous said...

She dabbles in to many types of paint and does not create a whole picture in solid skills anywhere. I do not believe that she is even aware of that.

Anonymous said...

How does Emma dabble in to many different things? She acts and does feminism as a brand strategy. Look at Cara D who started as a model and is a worse actress. She is now also a singer and is releasing a book. Emma really only does one job. Other famous women are trying to sell too expensive clothes or stupid teas. I would say Emma does way too little.

Anonymous said...

But she does nothing to become a better actress. She just isn't that good. Her feminism is a joke. You do not see her in the hot spots of the world sporting rights for disadvantaged women.

RT said...

She was not invited non of the case or crew where FOX not big fans of feminist activist or liberal thinkers.

Emma also named most inspiration celebrity and credited by many as there route to feminism. The word feminist has largely been reclaimed through her work and influence

What does FOX have to do with this? I don't understand.
