[FLASHBACK] Emma Watson covers Vs. magazine (Spring 2009)

9 years ago, the photoshoot of Emma for Vs. by Ellen Von Unwerth was released and people... had a lot to say about it. Some were nice, some were mean, and some others were absolutely disgusting. I personally loved it as I felt it was the first photoshoot that showed Emma different from usual.

I wonder if the first ps pic (with the doll) would be 'acceptable' these days?

A 'Pretty Baby' vibe and today's social climate is very much at odds with the artistic vision of Malle and quite possibly that of EVU.

I must say I agree with Eden in liking that Emma was prepared to experiment and develop a character in the ps. Worth remembering,at that time, in the eyes of many people she was still Hermione, with the last HP movie not being released until 2011.

I mean it was just few years ago. I agree that much changed especially because of the Weinstein story but you make it sound like this photoshoot is from ages ago. Lol

Yikes things must be bad if we're posting flash backs.

Come back Emma!

Actually the reason it's posted is because as my blog dates from 2010 (or is it 2009?), there are lots of stuff missing so I'm posting them on their "anniversary" dates. But the fact there's nothing else to post helps :p

I always thought this photoshoot was artistically intriguing. They intentionally make her look like a doll and also a little girl who is ditzy and innocent. I would like to know a few things like how Emma would view this photoshoot now, almost a decade later, and what the intention was of the magazine in portraying her this way. I think the intent if I had to guess was certainly to hold onto any innocence Emma had, as she was on the brink of womanhood. I doubt Emma would do a photoshoot like this today.

I don't remember seeing all of these pictures, but I think for a young girl quite provacative, but nice looking.
