Andrealr123 from Pottershots informs us that, after going to Selfridges for information about the signing, they told her Emma was not signing autographs anymore. There's a Q&A instead. Anyone can come. Prepare some money just in case you actually have to buy a Lancôme product to participate.
EDIT: Liz contacted Selfridges who told her the Q&A will last 15 minutes.
EDIT 2: From Selfridges

EDIT 2: From Selfridges
Visit the Beauty Hall to see Emma introduce the stunning new collection and take part in a 15 minute Q&A with our very own Buying Director, David Walker-Smith.
EDIT 3:
From a Tweeter: Will we be able to ask Emma our own questions at the Q&A?:-)
Selfridges: Afraid not - you will be able to listen to her Q&A with our Buying Director, David Walker-Smith

I have a bad feeling about this event now. Odds are the only questions that will be answered are solely about the products, so what was a very friendly and personal event has now become a professional and business like...interview really.
It makes sense for a Q&A. She's there to promote the product. So to answer questions and speak about the product would be better promotion. I change my mind i won't be going now.
Nooo, we need someone on the inside to tell us if she'll say anything exclusive.
I don't blame Emma one bit for this, she is just an employee who is doing what she's told. Granted she probably has more pull but at the end of the day, Lancome and maybe even Selfridges have the final say in all of this. I wonder if the party later that night made a difference on the format though.
Er Chris it was always going to be a professional and business. I think we'll only know what's going on on the day itself, often things change and the staff don't know. I asked the staff at a store once about an event the following day and the told me it had been cancelled and it went ahead! So you never know! So many people would probably turn up to the signing it wouldn't be personal anyway and you'd be queuing for a couple of hours! It would be difficult to manage, I'd imagine it will still be madness!!
Well the event is about the product more than a personal thing, she's promoting a product!
Oh definately the pre party had a play in this. If she was tosign that can take up to like 1.30hrs to 2hrs. She's then gotta go back and get changed then final rehearse i would think. Then go to party. The party messed it up lol
It's probably for security reasons. I mean, Emma is one of the most popular actresses in the world, especially in the UK. Other than at private photocalls, she's never done a signing like this. They're probably expecting a Bieber-like occurance.
Also, like many have said, it's probably because they want her to answer questions about the product, and nothing else.
Lancome ruined Emma Watson for me. :(
Just contacted Selfridges on Twitter: Emma will take part in a 15 mins Q&A and will NOT sign... :(
Thank you Anon :)
No problem! :)
Security issues could be dealt with. For instance, they could have distributed tickets/bracelets in advance to allow a limited number of people to the signing. 2.5 hours flight just to be there... this is all very disappointing :(
think making the signing for a limited number of people would have angered far far more people to be the honest, limited events even when advertised in advance always go down badly. I'd imagine an enormous amount of people would turn up to a signing and turning people away always causes major aggravation, especially if the people were queuing. A signing at Selfridges on Oxford street really would have been insane, the crowds would have been huge and she'd have to be there for hours so as not to dissapoint lots and lots people. This makes way more sense. It's a Lancome event and not just meet Emma.I'd imagine tonnes of people will still get to see Emma. It is a department store and the security for a signing would have had to be crazy, this is now more manageable.
What's next, Emma won't be there but a cardboard cut out will lol
They've obv done this as it's on the same evening as the pre bafta. Sure many people would be there. They could've let her do the signing. It won't be crazy like HP premiere. But expect a few less more people there. But to be fair. Lancome want it promoted and the Q&A is the best way for them but not for us fans :(. I've seen her at HP prem's. I'll just give this one a miss.
Chris, she's promoting a product, anyways, the signing was only going to be 45 minutes long so not everyone would get the chance to talk to her or even see her, this way everyone will see her and get to hear what she has to say.
I don't disagree with that, the product is ALWAYS more important than the person, but sometimes the person makes the product. I guess my only concern for fans is that I have been to an event where the details changed so much in such a short time that the majority of people ended up disappointed. I had a chance to meet NHL legend Gordie Howe back in 2010 who was promoting his book and sign it for the fans. A week before the event we find out he's not signing but will do a question panel for fans and the book would be on sale there. 2 days before his publishers said he WOULD sign the book but only if you bought it at the event and no question panel, I was willing to buy his book a second time. I waited in line for 5 hours outside in a snow storm only to find out once the store opened that his publishers cancelled the event altogether. To top it off I ended up catching pneumonia and spent Christmas sick lol
Jason, I'd imagine it will still be crazy, potter premieres were absolute total and utter madness, this will just be really crazy lol! A signing would make it even worse and it would be in an already very busy store... This way lots of people will actually get to see her rather than just the people she'd get to sign for, which wouldn't be all that many.
I get your point anonymous. Yeah they'll all get to see her. But they would've at the signing as well and even more closer look as u would be getting closer. But anyway to all the fans who go have a lovely time. I'm not gojing to this one.
@Chris - sorry man that sucks. I hope u don't get to experince that again :(

I agree. I'm starting to get a bit annoyed by all the lancôme stuff :/
I liked her better when she was still filming and promoting Harry Potter. All she does now is posing for some superficial ads. She has become quite shallow in my opinion.
And yes, I know some people won't agree with me but that's fine, this is just my opinion.
