Stanley Tucci has joined the cast of Your Voice in My Head.
He will star alongside Emma Watson in the adaptation of Emma Forrest's memoir, reports Variety.
The film is being helmed by four-time Harry Potter director David Yates, who told Digital Spy last summer that he would be happy to work with Watson or her Harry Potter co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint again in the future.
Your Voice in My Head follows British journalist Forrest's turbulent life in New York City, where she seeks out the help of a kindly psychiatrist (Tucci) to keep her head above water.
When her mentor dies unexpectedly and her romantic relationship ends, Forrest is forced to save herself instead.
Forrest is adapting the screenplay from her own book.

Dr R is a very important role in the story. Even though he doesn't often physically appear, he's always there. The book feels like Emma Forrest's memoir but also some sort of dedication to Dr R. I highly recommend people to read the book, I thought it was brilliant.

I hope this movie will be a successful one.
Tucci is a wonderful choice. I liked him in Lovely Bones, helmed by Peter Jackson. I would have like a Tom Hanks or a Morgan Freeman, but Tucci is a good actor.
Thanks for the info
Linda
I'm happy to read that Emma is getting roles alongside established older actors. She can only learn from these people. I think Stanley is a wonderful actor. Loved him The Devil wears Prada alongside Meryl Streep.
I'd love to see Emma do a movie with Cate Blanchett- ah fellow Austrailian.
By the way, Emma and Stanley are both in The Tale of Despereaux! He gives his voice to Boldo.
She is making interesting choices which are completly different from each other....i just want to fast forward few years and see what she is up to and i cant wait for perks to come out and bling to be over and the other two movies to start shooting...and doing all this with college and modelling contracts and not getting carried away is awesome:)god bless emma
Thats good...tough material and i hope emma does 100% justice to it
Great part for emma
I'm quite happy that david yates dint choose george clooney or tom hanks:)its seems they are getting all the good parts lately
I love Stanley Tucci. Slightly more interested in seeing this now.
Wait a sec, is it confirmed shes doing the part? I always though it was a rumor since no one really confrimed it.
With uni research in the background with filming and this interesting good news, Emma must be driving 180. Wow, what an energy level. Isn't she at Oxford though- Trinity term?
woaw that is a wonderful choice! I can't wait to see Emma in this movie!
Stanley Tucci is wonderful! Can't wait to see the movie now!

I like the idea of a Stanley Tucci giving the character Emma advice, and his voice always sounding in her head after his death. I am interested to see how Emma Watson translates a goo man's advice to her actual living. Does she have the ability to be vulnerable, maybe somewhat crazed but then be believeable. I hate it when actors bring out the typical cliches of manic-depressive people and think that they have nailed the character. I hope that Emma, the actress, does her research well before standing in front of the camera. If she nails this role, nothing will be able to stop her. Yates has to also understand what insanity in manic-depressive behavior entails. Please no cliches.
Any believeable news about who will be playing the Bohemian lover? How about James McAvoy? Please not Justin Timberlake. The films he plays are too often dingy- the bad teacher was just too much to bear.
this looks really interesting! I´m looking forward for it. But I´m too a bit afraid who will play that lover..I don´t know where are those Justin T. rumours from, but I really hope it´s not him.....
I downloaded "Your Voice in My Head" from Audible.com to my smartphone.
Pretty interesting so far. Emma Forrest does the narration herself.
I am starting to picture Emma W. as Emma Forrest the same as I did with Sam when I listened to Perks of Being a Wallflower.
Emma has her work cut out for her playing Emma Forrest. Perks seems like it is going to be fairly tame and watered down. They managed to finally get the PG13 rating.
Your Voice in My Head will be rated R no doubt! It could be very intense. Might have Emma's first nude scene. Who knows?
I can´t imagine her and Justin in nude scene :D :D :D when I imagine them next to each other, it´s like big brother and younger sister....
To be honest, I didn´t read YViMH yet..so I don´t know much about it...but how old is Emma´s character??
@Anon above ... from summary on Audible.com
"Emma Forrest, a British journalist, was just 22 and living the fast life in New York City when she realized that her quirks had gone beyond eccentricity.... "
Any news on who the bohemien lover will be?
Who will play emma Forrester's mother in Your voice in my head`?
Emma should be safe in the hands of David Yates. They're old friends and working with him on a non-HP movie will be good for both of them. Maybe Julie Walters could play the mother. Or how about Imelda Staunton.
I hope this is really true that Tucci is playing the psychiatrist. Do I smell Oscar potential.I agree with annoymous of 11oo. She really has to do her research well to give a believeable role.
Do we know when the filming starts? I wonder what hair style she will have...I hope it´s that brown hair colour she has on Bling Ring...but with different lenght.....I don´t want nothing similar to Hermione.
I agree Alexandra. Her hair colour will most likely be dark brown to black. I think Emma forrest is a brunette type. You are right Alexandra, Hermoine would not fit at all. By then she will have Hermoine out of her system. She will have played Lucy, Sam and now a thief. I think she is beginning to prepare herself for something different through these very different roles. Sam of Perks could be a bit close to the Emma Forrest character with some of her distructive behavior. But here Emma will play a young woman, who had survived the woes of mental illness. This role is a plum role with endless positive possibilities in its aftermath if she nails the role as believeable.

The character Emma Forrest definately gives Emma Watson a prime opportunity to show if she has a strong acting talent. And since Emma Forrest is also British,Emma Watson should be able to project herself into how a British young woman may act in a given situation because of cultural learning. Each people have a singular way of viewing the world, which is then coloured with individuality. Emma Forrest is a complex personality with a wide range of intelligence and creativity. In that way Emma fits the role. Being literary intelligent and having developed writing skills- I believe- is important to understanding the character Emma Forrest and what she bleeds on paper about her life. I truly hope that Emma Watson does well with this role. I want her to nail it.

Julie walters or imelda staunten would be great. I was thinking more of a meryl streep. She would be wonderful in that role. Tucci and Streep together with Emma would be a gift for all of us. But again I would also like Julie Walters or Imeld Staunten.
let's get this bling ring stuff over with and move on to better things like your voice in my head and beauty and the beast
Cant wait for perks, bling, voice and beauty...i just want to fast forward a few years and see what all emma did
I agree. This young woman is most interesting in her career choices. There are so many generic actresses around, but she is just different in a positive way. I just talked to some long standing friends, and they admitted that they feel driven to mean her well and want success for her. I hope this finishes school though. Many actresses and actors begin but never finish.
I can't wait to find out who the entire cast is for Your Voice in my Head. I think this will be a deep reaching movie with which most young women and even older women can identify. For such a sensitive topic of presenting mental illness, I hope they choose good actors and actresses. I believe Emma Watson will be able to do very well. She will do her research, focus and present what she understands of the topic depression and the character Emma Forrest. How vulnerable the person that plays Forrest must be.
This is a no non-sense role. I have read the book and was surprised at how witty it was at times- almost humorous- or did I just misinterpret.
Lynn
I am truly happy that she is doing so well post-HP, but wasn't she studying English Literature for a year at UNiversity of Oxford. As far as I know this is Trinity Term for Oxford and Cambridge and other UK universities- which means research term. Is she also doing research or did she drop out?
when will the entire cast be announced? It must be soon if they plan on filming during the sommer vacation before Emma returns to Brown University.
I also think Meryl Stree as Judy Raimes, also a TV writer, who by the way is also an american, would be very good.
Emma would really be able to learn a lot from Meryl.
