BREAKING: David Yates is exiting Your Voice in My Head, the Warner Bros film that had been expected to be his next movie after completing the Harry Potter series. I’m told that Yates dropped out for personal reasons involving a family health situation. Yates was going to do the film with his Potter star Emma Watson and wanted to postpone, but the writers and producers didn’t want to wait.
I wonder how crazy the studio will be about going forward without him. Beyond Chris Nolan and Ben Affleck, Warner Bros tends to bring every script is has to Yates, and that was a primary reason the studio was interested. Your Voice in My Head is the Emma Forrest-scripted drama based on the scribe’s memoir. Watson is playing a young woman who attempts suicide before being saved by a New York-based psychiatrist who’s dying of cancer. Watson and Yates worked together on the last four Harry Potter films. Yates was eyeing big male start to play the male lead, with Stanley Tucci mentioned as one of the possibles. Yates might now do A Reliable Wife at Sony.Source: Deadline

I'm a little saddened by this but I fully believe that family should come before work, especially when health is concerned. I am equal parts nervous and excited to see who they bring in to replace and if that director's vision either matches or is a huge contrast to what Emma thought she was signing up for. Should definately be an interesting couple of months to see what happens.
I disliked the book so much that I'm now hoping Emma will follow Yates out the door.
Yates is a very good director, but he's not so good with sticking to the story (Harry Potter, for example.) I know Kloves wrote the script, but he directed the sequence of the movie, and they took so much out, added so much in, changed the order of events, etc...
I still hope that Emma does the movie, but I'd like to see someone like Martin Scorcese or Steven Spielberg directing it. Not just because they're brilliant, but honestly, it would be nice to see her in a movie that's almost guaranteed to win an award. No matter what movie Scorcese or Spielberg make, it almost always wins Oscars.
I'd love to see Emma in an Oscar nominated movie, and go to the awards show.
Now more people would happy for that !!!
And wishing emma to drop out the whole project. !!!
Oh no , I'm so sad right now cause I loved the idea of them working together again ,,
Yeah family is more important than any work
Wishes all the best for EMMA
Leviathan why don't you like it ? (real question that interests me, i didn't read it).
I still hope she'll make it, it would be even more interesting to see her with another director, because her job would be different and her interpretation too.
It's a dislikable role in a movie based on an annoying, unpleasant book that squandered its opportunity to uplift and inform by giving ridiculously short shrift to the only part that really matters, the theraputic process. What's left is a vapid memoir of a shallow, self-absorbed woman's adventures in celebrity-chasing and star-f***ing. Emma would be well-shut of it.
There are plenty of opportunities out there for her to play interesting, complex women who don't earn our contempt. I'd rather see her do those.
I think this role especially will be unique for emma.
I hope her doing it so soon. ,, sounds really intersting and I'm soo exciting .
Go emma you will rock any role,I'm sure .
Oh no! I met David Yates and his wife last November and they're both such lovely, kind people. I sure hope they're alright and nothing serious is going on. :(
I wonder if Em will stay though.
Shoot! I was excited to have them working together again. :(
Emma might be replaced because of this. Directors like working with people they want. David got Emma this role. I don't think she auditioned. Then again, she may leave if she does not like the director that replaced him.
I am also saddened that Yates is not doing the film. He seems like a really good man, who would have been gentle with Emma in such a demanding role. Not only the part of the mental illness, which will be very difficult to capture, but the author's constant self-absorption that does not enable her to lead a normal life, for no normal person can deal with such squandered time as a day in complete self-absorption. But that is a symptom of the mental illness that the character EF is suffering through. I also think Martin Scorcese would be great or Peter Jackson- he did a wonderful job with Lovely Bones. I do hope that they continue with the movie though. As someone just said, this film definately has Oscar potential, and a wonderful way for Emma to prove her stature as an actress.
I'm sure Emma understands the situation. I still want her to do this film since Stanley Tucci is also a great actor. Tina with a D is right, Scorcese and Spielberg are great choices.
The female role in A Reliable Wife would also be a juicy role. The male and female character are two truly twisted personalities which would make a demanding role for both.
Didn't Emma audition for her role in AVimH. Now that comment really surprises me since this is such a highly anticipated film, so having a true talent is absolutely necessary to make the film work.
How about Clint Eastwood as new director for YVimH. He really makes high profile emotional movies with strong character development- hardly any or no technological hypes. He is older and seasoned in his craft who knows acting and all of his movies that he has directed have carved the tales to perfection.
Clint Eastwood would be good- the changeling, Million dollar baby, although I don't think he directed anything with a high sexual content- eventhough this is not the main theme of the story. But that is the mental illness that the woman has.
Maybe this is the Dustin Hoffman tease from earlier . He has directed quartet.
Just wishing all the best for emma with her next projects ,,
Love her sooo much <3
I just hope they find a sensitive director who respects people that have been negatively marked in their lives with mental illnes. Forrester makes quite a few jokes about herself and the twisted way she sees people that she comes into contact with. One might laugh, but they are funny sad and a vision of her own person. This will be a daunting task for Emma. It will send her sailing forward or stalemate her. But all the same, I am an Emma fan- love her sooo...
Im glad that Yates is no longer doing the film. He likes too much flippy technolgy which would definatley not suffice to tell this story.
