Limited release? Why Summit, why!?

That had better change that cause they won't show it in my neck of the woods.

There's a plethora of EXTREMELY talented and well known actors in this movie. Summit had the chance to make a ton of money at the box office because of that, but they're blowing it by making it a limited release.

Maybe they're hoping that because it's a limited release, it for some reason might have a greater chance of winning an award. I've noticed over the past few years, most movies nominated for major awards are well-made limited releases.

Who knows?

"Summit Entertainment just announced that Emma Watson’s upcoming drama, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, will have its initial limited theatrical release on Friday, September 14, 2012."

I just read this on tumblr. I don't know if this person assumed it will start limited, or if it's an official press release. If it is true, it's probably going to get a wider release, we just have to wait a few weeks.

finally! thanks eden. :) but why a limited release?

Why fight so hard for the PG-13 rating so more people can see the film...and then not let everyone see the film? I don't understand that logic.

She's still doing her bachelors degree, right? Eden, I remember you saying she was doing a masters, but I've just researched around and she hasn't finished her bachelors yet (to my knowledge, she'd be about halfway through now), so how could she be doing a masters?

Must be someone else, I don't think I ever said she was doing a master. As you said, she can't :)

It's so stupid of Summit to make this film a limited release.. Still want to see this movie.

i think (since this is "indie" movie) that they just wanna "test" people and see if it's gonna make some good money at the beginning,and-if it does, then they're gonna release it wider :D It won't be in Montenegro for sure -_- FUUUUUUUUU!!!

Limited release signals not good reviews. They are expecting it to bomb. I hate to say this.

I'm very happy to see that Emma is getting good roles. Perks is a good book read in German schools at the Gymnasium for the Abitur classes. It is so good to hear, that the jung people from Harry Potter are getting roles. Here in Germany we are very excited about Rupert Grint in two movies: one with alan Rickman, but Rup will play the guitarist and Countryman. I saw Into the White with my friend in Oslo. Really wonderful. Rupert really proved he can act. Wunderbar!I think that dies young actors have much talent. Emma is a charm and an intelligent actress- selten! Good Luck!

The HP kids are doing well. Bonnie Wright finished her studies and will be starring in a new film Shakespeare's daughter. Can't wait. I'm rockin for Rupert.

Thanks Henning and Helga. I really appreciate Rupert Grint from the Trio- other than the beautiful talented Emma Watson. But Rupert is a man of few words and with every film he is in, he shows directers a new avenue of range. The gigs are piling upon each other.I will watch him in every film that comes out.

Emma in my opinion is the most successful among the trio , her rols after HP really amazing and so different !! and I'm so interested to watch all her films ! Cause they will be amazing lik her !!

What a talented actress she is !!

Rupert might really be the diamond in the rough among the entire Potter cast. In Potter he kind of got a little overlooked but he is quickly building himself a solid resume of good quality work. I am so looking forward to Eddie The Eagle next year!

I also think that Emma is so far showing herself as the most talented under the HP actors. I also agree with Chris that Rupert is a 'diamond in the rough'. I believe he will surprise in the long haul. This doesn't mean though that the other two aren't talented. Although personally, I don't see Dan doing quality films after HP wears off. That will be the clinch- who will survive the HP hype. Start collecting those roles guys and gals.

It is true that the roles for Emma since HP are very different from each other, but we haven't seen her in any but in A Week with Marilyn which was good considering the little role she did have. We see the interesting roles coming up on imdb, but in reality we have seen very little. I hope that she will be monumental, I am a true Emma fan, but there are just certain realities.

If Emma bombs with Perks it's going to take a stellar performance in Bling Bling. This is the transition period in her career. She better be on top of her game.
