Amy Adams: "Emma Watson is talking about women all over the world"

Gracing the cover of Allure's April issue, Adams acknowledges that the Hollywood wage gap is a problem, but says she thinks it's more important to focus on gender equality as a whole.

"That's what is so great what Emma Watson is doing," Adams, 41, tells the magazine. "She's not talking about actresses; she's talking about women all over the world."

I was never a big fan of her acting, I think her skills are poor and she must see that this career path has limitations in her case. I am not a hater here, it's just true. Generally I don't care what she does because she can do everything, she has money and power. I envy her that freedom. But I can't help but to feel that this is more like a pet project, her own private adventure. She was hired by the UN and that is great, but UN means pretty much nothing, it's like a debate club for VIPs, don't you think? They don't really change anything, they just talk. If I'm wrong, please, correct me, I will be happy to change my view.

I like Emma, she is striving to be a good activist and agree with her in the equality men and women ,but I do not understand is that the UN chose her, What Emma has done to prove something? yes, She is good, but there are many more women more trainedt than she, with more focused more studies in this field, law, politics ... but of course these women are not Emma Watson and It is always very nice to say that a famous actress involved in this, I repeat Emma is very intelligent and I wish her well but the UN chose her because she is "famous"

That is EXACTLY why they chose her. Because of her fanbase. If she doesn't have that, she can kiss her voice goodbye. Therefore, it's not in her best interest or her causes to quit her career as an actress.

but it is unfair, I mean there are girls who are more prepared than Emma, and they do not have the opportunity to be echoose by the UN and provide a Speeches because they are not famous, it is unfair, choose only someone for an "image"

I totally agree with you. I sometimes look at UN politics as that i look in the Brazillian one... they wants famous and not prepared people to take fun in the politics and make that seems fun LOL. LMAO. Emma isn't the kind of people that i'm looking for in the politics talking about abort child and whatever... Felt myself regret to lose my time with her.

Emma is very intelligent, and I know she is committed to heforshe, she has taken a one year sabbatical to pursue this, and I support in their struggle for equality, but it is true that she proved nothing, she was in Indian for People Tree but Angelina Jolie has traveled so much to learn about the life of women in other countries, Audrey Hepburn was a pioneer, she was in many poor countries

that it is, Emma had to prove anything, the UN has chosen her because she's famous, Emma has made a great speech? Yes, Emma is engaging in this case? Yes, but they not really chose it for her feminist gifts, but because she is a famous actress
Unfortunately the UN is an "image"

^ Sorry, you must have mistaken this comment section for your shrink's office.

Not to shame mental illness, but I'm guessing you think you're fine.

I just love Amy Adams' acting and her films. I am so glad she is rooting for Emma! So are many famous women out there. I mean it's such an honour for Emma too, not just for these famous women. Besides these women, many others are influenced and support Emma, like I do. I love the fact Emma is really reaching out and is having some heavyweights speak in support of her. I don't see this happening for Dan or Rupert or even Bonnie. They don't have the fanbase support that she has. Emma's fans are limited to only Harry Potter ones, many now are followers of her advocacy for women's rights and gender equality and HeforShe.

fan of HP and Emma but I hope she can brush up her acting skills. I think her advocacy is great but sometimes a little bit controversial. People may find it annoying

I think Emma is doing the best she can according to her lights. I agree with the comments about her acting and I guess deep down she knows this herself as film offers seem to be few on the ground. HfS and feminism are like a career change for her, something different to do that may (or may not) make an impact. I hope she gets to the point where she is prepared to go out and meet ordinary people to see what she can do to help as Angelina Jolie does and Audrey Hepburn did before her. Standing up and making speeches is all very well but I don't think it will make such a difference in the long run.

So far, from what I can see, the media has picked up on the sex site she advertised and the fact she used the f-bomb two or three times - hardly going to change the world is it?

She is a young woman and I think that it is normal to passionate about things, but I thought she was passionate about acting, wanting to be a writer and director. Okay, many celebs go as activists somewhere. Look at all the good Angelina Jolie is doing visiting the poor children and families in poverty-stricken countries. As a result, she adopted three of these children to give them an opportunity for a better life. That is great and amirable. Angelina is also a great actress and is turning into a wonderful director. Unbroken was Oscar worthy.
I am not sure though, if Emma really knows yet what she wants. She is now hitting all the bays in the area of feminism where her initial idea and speech from the UN is no longer clear after the Steinem stint.
I just wonder if she plans on remaining in acting, if she does, she should do something about being educated in acting. That's right being a good actor needs a good education. There are great natural talents, but Emma is not one of them. I think she has potential, but she is not that good that she is unable to benefit from solid training.
At this time Emma is still too full of herself. She is likeable, wants to do the right thing, but in many ways she reminds me of a smart adolescent.

Emma, might just make a million for a film where Meryl streep may make four million and Brad Pitt 3 million. Brad is the only male, but he has way more talent. If you want to think of equal pay in that way, then the janitor at Warner Brothers should make just as much as the top notch director.
That everyone has the same abilities and talents. Meryl Streep should be paid for than Brad or Emma, and it is applicable that Brad is paid more than Emma.
Tom Hanks also most likely made more than Emma in The Circle, but hey he has more talent and more expensive in the offer. Emma could never ask for that much, Producers would show her the birdie, for she has not yet shown that much range.
Eventually, I think all the HP actors are going to fade into oblivion, even Dan Radcliffe.
Rupert I believe will be the great surprsie, because he is really talented. I think it will be interesting what that Comic book fílm brings for NBC. He is also the producer there.
He would be another one who would benefit from acting edu. He is better than Emma and Dan. Matthew Lewis might also be a surprise. Tom Felton is doing very well, but he can act. I loved the way the character Drako grew from a child into an adolescent. Tom was aware of this transition. I never felt that the trio was aware of this transition from childhood to adolescence.

Reading the comments of people who act like they're specialists in feminism. Like chill guys.. She can do whatever the f*ck she wants..

To ALL the anons above in particular those with long-winded posts, are you using google translator for English from another language? It is clear to me you are. Your words are abstract.

She claims to want to think for herself. And yet, all she is now is an amalgam of feminist authors. I can see the spirits of hundreds of feminist writers with their hands up her ass, moving her mouth for her. She's become a feminist ventriloquist's dummy.

LOL the initial comments are like "I like her but she is horrible" haha, why don't you just admit you are hardcore haters?, and these are like 1 or 2 persons writting looots of comments to make it seem like it's a lot of people, so sad of you. Why don't you admit you hate the idea of high profile actors praising Emma, I really hope you're not Rupert Grint fans, that would be really sad, he deserve better than these people comparing him with Emma Watson every single time.

To the people attacking the commenters rather that extolling Emma's virtues in her defence (some especially rude comments about shrinks and language*) rather than winning the argument you are reinforcing the point the Emma has little going for her that you have to resort to other tactics. Better luck next time.

*Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Good on them for trying in a language that isn't their first, if that is the case.

Long winded and typing fast so more errors- but got the point across.-no abstractions but cued ideas-but the point is across. Argue the argument instead of insulting.
I could the f...less what she does with her life, but fact is fact that her acting needs helps. (Shrug) maybe she will move on to other heights out of acting after the year- might be doing herself a favor if she is doing noting to improve-just my opinion and shorter winded than the other anon.

Anonymous said...

OMG those haters write hateful comments and ask for proper replies, are you kidding right?

Anonymous said...

No one on this page take these people seriously, why do you want long arguments to prove you are wrong? haha

Anonymous said...

Excuse me for trying to think I could rationalise with stupid. If this is what Emma's fans are like I refuse to be counted as one any longer.

Respecting another person's opinion even if I disagree without insulting another person is a sign of intelligence. It is interesting to argue but dull to just call people names. I agree with anon 3.52 a.m.

Anonymous said...

You know that a person is a hater when he or she wants to argue that Tom Felton and Rupert Grint have at the moment a better career than Emma's, this is hilarious lol

Anonymous said...

Tom Felton definately has a better acting career without so much attention getting, but rather on pure skill. Ruper Grint will be the surprise diamond. He already has a NBC comic put series with Silvio Horta and he is producing. He has been on Broadway and got overall good reviews. And in London in MOJO where he even got an award. The approach is quieter and based on pure skill.
