I hope she works more with stephen chbosky, the one who wrote the novel Perks of being a Wallflower and the screenplay to Beauty and Beast. He is a great writer. If he writes the screenplay and direct for While we are young, he is going to knock the book out of the park into a spectacular film. Perks is still in the 8.... from 1-10. She was listed for While we're young over a year ago, but then it dropped from her imdb. I hope she still does this film with Mr. Chbosky. He is truly a talented writer and director.
emma is underrated tbqh, most actresses are horrible and play one role, themselves in everything. she was amazing in the bling ring, perks, noah, colonia and batb
I think she faired well with Chbosky and she played a stellar performance with Sam. My misgiving in the role was that she had short hair and Sam had long hair. That is trivial though. I hope to hear more of Chbosky and Emma working together.
lol she hasn't done anything......
You're right! It's time that imdb starts stocking up. Queen of the Tearling is listed, but in the Pro, she is no longer listed as producer or actress, and Heyman is busy with all the Fantastic Beasts films; I do not see that film being done in the near future, and then I doubt sher will be Chelsea. She is 27 and already too old .
The reason Tearling never got off the ground is because Emma is not a credible lead in terms of a studio spending huge amounts of money.
anon are you joking?! BATB just got over 1 Billion.
make some other reason but money/investment wouldn't be an issue
With reference to the 2 anons above, I think there is a big difference between HP/BATB and her 'adult' movies.
Bling Ring took less than $6 mill at the US box office and Colonia and Regression were flops.
The Circle will be an interesting test. Tom Hanks & Emma Watson should be names that would draw a crowd. If the film is unsuccessful, then EW really needs to pick her next film carefully.
HP & BATB had ready made audiences, special effects and significant promotional tie-ins. Irrespective of the lead actress they were always likely to be hits.
The jury is still surely out as to whether EW can parlay that success into an 'adult' movie career (if she should so wish).
I like the movies Emma is in. If adult movie means bed scene, those films are not usually the best ones. I remember reading that Streep once commented that one does not need to act in a bed scene. There is no talent needed. So what if an actress does more Disney. Disney films have endured with great results and anticipation. Of course a film with Peter Jackson or Mel Gibson would be great. Those two directors are the best in the industry. All of Mel's directed films were Oscar winners.
Even if she did the Queen of Tearling, she is too old to play Kelsea. I was turned off by the end of the second of the second book where Keslea seemed psycho to me and the whole of bulk of the last book. It seemed like to me the author was searching on how to end her book.
These YA books nowadays are towers, but let one of them be as good as Paulo Coehlo's The Alchemist.
"anon are you joking?! BATB just got over 1 Billion."
not really because of Emma - its one of the most popular disney properties
Any half way decent female actress could have been successful in a Disney film. These film were successful before Emma came along and will be after she exits again. Her role though as Belle was excellent, but the movie would have been a box office hit anyway, and she made $15 million. I think that is about wherre Emma is with her talent. She needs to develope her acting style out of that of a girl. She really would benefit from a year of acting classes. If acting si what she is going to do, she should invest in training. She is good, but maybe she could be much better with a little more insight of where she stands and what she can achieve.
^ she thinks she is good enough but really she is less than average - it was the same with Dan Radcliffe but he has tried many things unlike Emma
she is lazy and she has nothing lined up - this heforshe stuff hardly takes up any time
I would not call her lazy; she has done more than most young women have done her age. Actually she can do anything she wants and not worry about how her food bill or house tax are going to be paid. I think though, she has reached her limit if she does not train for adult roles. She needs to get out of that adolescent performance of a wonderful Hermoine. In the long run, I do not think she will continue acting so much. I think in her early 30's she will write, produce and try her hand at directing, again though, I think she needs training in two of these fields. Her English degree has solved the writing part; Brown has one of the best English departments in the country, and I think she has learned most of what she could learn there in that area. At least I hope so.
If she is not a credible lead why didn't a studio not choose another actress like Jennifer Lawrence, Shailene Woodley? Saoirse Ronan would do great. Now that young woman is a talent to be reckoned with.
Emma needs to decide if she wants to endure as an actress. If she does, she needs to have some training. Even HP is going to die out, and the fans move on to other more credible actors and actresses if they see no important. Some will stay obsessed, but that is the fewest count.
