Emma Watson at the BAFTAs on February 18, 2018?

The article below only says Emma has been invited, not that she will attend.

Britain's biggest stars are expected to wear black on the red carpet at this year's Bafta Film awards.
The choice of attire is in support of the Time's Up initiative, the movement against sexual harassment founded by several Hollywood figures.
A letter circulated around the British film and TV industry invited those attending the Baftas to take part.
It follows a similar demonstration of support at the Golden Globe Awards earlier this year.
The request has already gathered support from UK stars expected to attend the awards and other industry figures.
The list is understood to include Emma Thompson, Daisy Ridley, Emma Watson, Gemma Arterton, Keira Knightley, Jodie Whittaker, Emilia Clarke, Noma Dumezweni, Natalie Dormer and Felicity Jones.
The letter urged guests "to wear black to the awards ceremony, to follow suit from our sisters who attended the Golden Globes".
It invited men attending the Baftas who wish to show their support for the Time's Up movement to wear "special pins and/or a button hole".
The organisers continued: "More than half of all women and nearly two-thirds of women [in the UK] aged 18 to 24 have experienced sexual harassment at work.
"We hope that those of us privileged enough to have a platform can use it to raise awareness of the experiences of women beyond our industry, whose experiences are often silenced and marginalized."
Joanna Lumley is the presenter of this year's award ceremony. It will be the first time in over a decade that the Baftas have been hosted by a woman.
The event will take place at the Royal Albert Hall on 18 February.

If she marches for women in LA then she should work for women in the UK when she is asked. UK is her country

Sure, just give the orders, Sir.

Obey, Soldier Watson.

Why do you hate your country, Emma?

Ugh. So getting sick of this feminist bs. I'm a fan and all but geez do some freaking film work or grow a set and just come out and say you're done acting. Hell she's got enough money. If she wanted to I'd be okay with her admitting she's lazy, rich and privileged so to hell with working. And I'm leaning more towards that versus her being picky. I really find it hard to believe that in 3 years not one good script hasn't come her way. Unless because of her lack of improving her so called craft by doing something, hell anything she is just not being offered shit. As a fan who had high hopes for her after Potter that I thought "critics" who said she is wooden, stiff, can't do accents, etc. were wrong. The stuff she's picked to do have been okay and certainly nothing spectacular.I really had high hopes after Perks. I personally enjoyed her performance in that. It's getting frustrating being a fan. Even more so cuz when she does do interviews they are super controlled on what can be asked. Her personal life I totally get but she can't be asked about projects, future projects?!? That's stupid. Unless of course it's about stupid feminist or eco bs. That she'll talk about FOREVER!! Arrrrgh!! Totally frustrating.

Who said it is forbidden to ask her about her future projects??

EW has stated from day one that she is only going to take roles that mean something to her so im not sure why you or anyone else is surprised at this point. Her feminism is important to her so maybe that is where her heart lies most. For whatever reason it seems like people think she cares more about her acting than her activism which clearly isnt the case. She's made enough money that she could retire right now without doing another film. While i agree with you that her post Potter movies have been nothing to write home about (except for BATB for me) ive never gotten the impression she cares all that much what the fanbase wants.

She simply dances to her own tune and does what she wants. She's had a successful career financially so if that is good enough for her there isnt much anyone else can do about it. Maybe her goal now is to take another path more into her activism rather than film. Its sometimes how life goes.

Hope she’ll be there, fingers crossed!

What's the big deal? She doesn't have any acting Talent to speak of, She is using feminism to remain noticed. Without the feminism, she would be gone.

It's good to see the old trolls are still this site. By the way, without the feminism, she still would be the lead of the biggest live action musical of all time and second biggest film of 2017. She sure would be gone, you are right

She tweeted "Get ready @BAFTA #TimesUp".

'Times Up' for Emma's acting career it would appear......

Many actors can take years away from the camera and still have a career end of the day it's her life and I think it's good to do more than one thing doesn't mean your finished

Lol okay troll

Just because one says the truth one is not trolling. I think Emma is a beautiful, talented and intelligent young woman. She is an average actor, but could have done so much more to develop her talents. I do not think she really knows what she wants. I do think though she realizes that the big roles are not offered to her. Beauty and the Beast was a lucky catch. The director used a big name to make the project big. But Beauty stands on its history and own story. Most agree that the film would have been a hit with an unknown just because of the nature of this classic story.

Emma is nearly 28. A prime age for an actress. What on earth is she playing at?

And better ones are moving up fast. Seen her mentioned before as the best of her generation-Saoirse Ronan. She is good in every role she plays and has played. Mackenzie Foy, young US actress is another force to be reconned with in the next few years. I am looking forward to this upcoming talent.

It's fine if she wants an activism career, but then she should tell her fans, who are only interested in her acting career like me. I could care a less about her shared shelf or feminism- stopped paying attention to any of it.

Anonymous said...

Why does she need to tell the fans anything? Lmao

If she wants to do movies once in a blue moon she can while doing her activism. If you dont care for her anymore move onto another actress/actor. Its not that difficult to comprehend. Some of you fans are ridiculous and act like you are entitled for some reason. If she isnt doing things that you are interested in anymore than move on. Its quite simple.

I understand people who are tired of waiting and wished Emma said something about whether or not she's auditioning or reading scripts, but remember she said (once again) that she wanted to do theatre back in April and said she'd love to play in The Handmaid's Tale only a few weeks ago during the Golden Globes.

It’s really all just wishful thinking at this point, though. If she’s not out there actively chasing roles (which it doesn’t seem like she is) the chances of her getting anything of quality is pretty low.

Eden said...

There's no way we would know whether or not she's chasing roles though. Even when she was getting roles we very rarely heard of her having auditioned for them. The only thing that changed from before is that we don't hear from sites like the Dailymail that she's being considered for stuff (which in generally was completely made up. Example: The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo). She could very well be auditioning a lot... and fail every time XD

She did audition for The Girl in the Dragon Tatoo. She also auditioned for The Room which went to Brie Larson. That would have been a good role for Emma.
I think she has moved on to other areas, because the good roles are not brought into her front yard. If that is so it is her choice and fine. I have moved on to Saoirse Ronan and MacKenzie Foy. I am interested in good creative acting talent not feminism.

"Why does she need to tell fans anything?"

I agree. She is using her celebrity platform to influence others and that turns me off. Good thing her choices in presenting feminism are not that intelligent and very generic so the nonsense is detectable. I just hate it when others try to control others thoughts in this way. Too many are nostalgic about her feminism and some of those stupid books. I wait until they come to the public library to read a bit into them. I will not buy them. I'd rather buy another Louise Erdrich and Alice McDermott.

"Why does she need to tell fans anything?" because thats part of the deal. Like she tells fans to see her movies when she promotes them, like she tells fans to adopt to her political ideology, like she tells her fans what to wear etc.
Fans dont have a "right" to know but they certainly can ask. Emma does not owe the fans anything but that also means the fans dont owe Emma anything. She only has a platform and can travel all around the world on private jets because of her fans. Lets not forget that part.
The uncertainty is what people get angry about. She hasnt worked in forever. She is retired.
I wish her the best, flying around the world visiting nice place, having flings with hot tall guys and doing yoga. But a little word like "dont wait for any news from me" would have been nice to her fans who made her fortune that affords her that life style.

If she is not a movie star, I don’t think anybody will even care about her feminist opinions. It is only her status as a movie star that gives her opinions some significance. I think if good roles are not coming to her she should produce for herself a good role.

Lisa said...

That doesn’t make any sense at all. Everyone has the right to know all her plans and life goals, because they paid to see her in a movie?
I work at a football club, does everyone who buys tickets for a game have the right to know everything about me? (If they would care, lol).
People gotta stop pretending Emma owes anything to anyone. You paid to see the movie, not to know everything about Emma.

Anonymous said...

Is Emma even all that interested in film/television in the first place? It seems like she doesn’t really watch all that much.

She probably just wants to move on at this point. She’s got enough money to where she never needs to work another day in her life. Might as well just do whatever the hell she wants.

"Emma does not owe the fans anything"

Boom.

If you paid to see her movies than you did so on your own accord. You cant hold her responsible for your own decisions. She owes you nothing.

Anonymous said...

Just think if all the pissed fans- and believe me there are many- as I take from this blog- refused to see another film she is in or buy any of the old DVD...
Fans mean nothing to hr as long as the money rolls in. She won't even take a photo with them anymore in fear that she will be found. How paranoid can you get. Honey, you're not that interesting. You are beautiful, but I have found very boring and one-sided.

Lisa said...

“She won’t even take a photo with them anymore in fear that she will be found.”

That’s because people treat her like an animal in a zoo. And if she’s photographed all crazy and obsessed fans go to that place.

Try putting yourself in someone else’s shoes and stop mindlessly criticizing others.

It's a shame she didn't get to do the Tearling trilogy, that would've been an awesome movie since Kelsea Glynn is a fearless character, like Emma wants to play

Is the tearling trilogy being made? It is still under development by David Heyman.
