Emma Watson to play in 'Little Women'

Emma Watson is set to join Greta Gerwig’s star-studded remake of “Little Women.”
Sources say Watson is being eyed for the part originally intended for Emma Stone, who was unable to join the project for unknown circumstances. With production expected to start next month, Sony moved quickly to approach Watson.
Roles are still being worked out and it is unknown which sister Watson would be playing.
Gerwig is writing and directing, with A-listers Meryl Streep, Laura Dern, Saoirse Ronan, Timothee Chalamet, and Florence Pugh in negotiations to star in Sony’s retelling of the American classic.
The project has been set up at Columbia Pictures for some time, with Amy Pascal set to produce with Denise Di Novi and Robin Swicord. Andrea Giannetti will oversee the production for Sony.
The novel by Louisa May Alcott, which follows the March sisters in post-Civil War America, has been adapted several times into feature films, with the 1994 Winona Ryder version being the most popular. The BBC’s “Little Women” miniseries aired late last year.
Watson previously starred as Belle in Disney’s live action “Beauty and the Beast,” which became a massive hit and grossed over $1.2 billion worldwide. Most recently, she appeared opposite Tom Hanks in “The Circle.” She is repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment

Yes, finally! Really cool project too, Gerwig's great.

And to everyone who kept on insisting she was retired from acting: suck it.

This is excellent casting, because Emma is an extremely little woman!

Finally she's back! I'm crying tears of joy! :-)))

IMDb (I know, i know, not always reliable, but...) says Stone was to play the eldest daughter, Meg March. Would make sense, I think Emma is the "oldest" of the young actresses listed to be part of the project.

This should end the rumers about Emma retiring from acting

Haters will somehow portray this as Emma Watson's fault too. XD They probably had a rough morning after listening t this news and already crying again over what a terrible actress she is ..again. My condolences to everyone who is offended by an actress who has done nothing to them lolol.

Awesome! I really didn't think she was interested in acting anymore. So happy to be wrong. :)

Knew there was gonna be something coming eventually. Nice to see her taking a big role again, seems like the kind where she's gonna really have to step up.

Finally! I somehow can’t believe it’s true! I was very sad due to personal things and this cheer me up a bit. Go Emma!

Sounds promising, but I'll temper any excitement until Emma officially confirms her participation.

I think it is the sort of role that Emma would embrace; a film based on a book many view as a feminist/literary classic and an ensemble role in a female led cast.

However according to the Variety article even though production is expected to start next month "Roles are still being worked out" and the mooted actresses are still "in negotiations".

A wait and see from me.

I'm pleased because like others I thought she was giving up acting and going for feminism in a big way. Further the Louisa May Alcott books are a firm favourite of mine and I think the part of Meg would really suit Emma. I can't see her as a Jo or Beth but either Amy or Meg would be perfect.

She is like 5 5 or 5 6 how is that little?

Yes! I'm so happy to see this see she still acts and a gd role for her! Xx

Really? She is a political choice in a politically driven remake. Stone turned it down because the role wasn't big enough and her role if you have read the books isn't that big.

At best she will be 4th billing. 4th really? Plus it's another remake.

Wow I'm so going to suck it. I'll tell you what...I'll suck it when she is a lead again in a big movie. LOL.

Ah her PR working overtime I see.

Lol haters denying the evidence til the end I see. It must be a pretty sad life, your friends from those hate blogs which-must not-be-named must be dead mad rn

Anonymous said...

LoL stans.....

What evidence? She is '4TH' billing in a politically driven remake which will most likely do average box office! Seriously who is crying out for yet another Little Woman movie? No one that's who......

andrew said...

The haters came out in full force .Not surprising, still disappointing though

Anonymous said...

Ahahah I guess it's fitting Emma has already a lead role in a box office super-hit then. Doesn't need to have one for every film she makes . And I don't think anyone is expecting a periodo drama doing anything close to 1b. So what? Can't you really find anything less contriving to grasp at? So desperate

"The haters came out in full force"

I'm not a hater. I'm just disappointed with her career thus far and find her lazy and a massive hypocrite. I'm woke that's all.

"Doesn't need to have one for every film she makes"

Yeh cause she is making so many movies. Being '4TH' billing is such a step down hence the actress Emma Stone turned it down. Emma has no choice but to take bit parts now she is not a sort after actress these days.

Eden said...

"Stone can no longer join the project because she’ll be promoting Yorgos Lanthimos’ “The Favourite,”" Nothing to do with billing.

Anonymous said...

Emma Stone likely turned it down because she is busy the time the film is supposed to start filming, not because it is a shitty role ahahahh You are also acting like she is having a fucking cameo in this when actually she is one of the main chracters.
You know , it is called Little Women not Little Woman, and while certainly Ronan's role is more prominent for anyone who read the book, it still is an ensamble film.
Try harder.

So you are disappointed Emma is lazy while complaining because she landed another film role. You are not crazy and funny at all my friend /s
I don't believe for a second you are not a hater nor that you are disappointed. Well I believe you are disappointed but not because she is lazy rather because she is not retired from acting

Sundas said...

Damn dont be so woke that it makes you so bitter to not enjoy small things in life sheesh.

CK said...

I remember that lazy comment appeared not once in this blog. I wonder if they come from the same person. Concerning how quiet Emma has been, every small news is a big news to Emma fans. So I don’t know why people can still complain from this. If you don’t like her simply leave her. Don’t waste time posting useless comments.

When every source reports it it's likely all done at this point

"She is '4TH' billing in a politically driven remake"

5th if you include the director. :/

Anonymous said...

How do you know she is 4th billing? Ahahahh do you morons know that the top billing list on IMDB is based on the starmeter right? Which is nothing more than an index of popularity week by week. The girl from Sharp Object is first because that TV series just cane out and made the news. With this news coming out on Friday, ai wouldn't ne surprised if Emma come at the first place next week. You haters have to try harder if you want to succeed

Eden said...

I was just about to ask where they were getting their billing infos from XD Doesn't the official billing come when the posters for the movies are out?

Anonymous said...

Absolutely. Emma won't probably be first if she indeed plays Meg but basing your assumptions on IMDb is beyond stupid.

Anonymous said...

More like 3rd billing. After Meryl and Saoirse.

Anonymous said...

Yeah such a terrible thing for her. Third billing? THIRD? Such a Shame, poor her, it couln't be worse for our poor girl

Anonymous said...

I’m crying I didn’t thought she had retired from acting I’m so happy

Lisa said...

This is great news!

"Yeah such a terrible thing for her. Third billing? THIRD? Such a Shame, poor her, it couln't be worse for our poor girl"

It perhaps would be if she was holding her own as a lead in other movies. Hasn't worked since 2015. Now in probably 2019 she is 3rd billing. Woopie Doo.

Not out of choice either. The HP magic has gone and she isn't that good. Nearly 30 and she should be hitting her prime. But instead she is plugging books.

Anonymous said...

It perhaps WOULDN'T be you meant. It would be nice if haters learned to speak/write before spouting their nonsense.
I am sorry if your dreams of her retirement were shattered in the last couple of days

Anonymous said...

"I am sorry if your dreams of her retirement were shattered in the last couple of days"

It was a joke. She'd never quit grandstanding on her scripted paid for tax free activism adventures.

Anonymous said...

you sound bitter. This news really messed you up. You should take it more lightly, after all whether she has a successful career or not it doesn't affect the fact that you are a loser in the slightest

Anonymous said...

"you sound bitter."

You sound demented.

"it doesn't affect the fact that you are a loser in the slightest"

Rich coming from a stan. Crying over her getting a role. Beyond pathetic.

Anonymous said...

You are the only one crying over someone else's accomplishments, which is actually beyond pathetic.

"You are the only one crying over someone else's accomplishments, which is actually beyond pathetic."

Crying with laughter at her underwhelming career and her mediocre acting.

;D

Anonymous said...

Her mediocre acting is a subjective opinion.
The fact that working with a star studdded cast and a critically acclaimed director is not underwhelming is pretty objective

Anonymous said...

"Her mediocre acting is a subjective opinion."

Really? Evidence please.

Anonymous said...

You really need to look up in the dictionary what subjective means.

"You really need to look up in the dictionary what subjective means."

Sorry I only own all the books Emma recommends including one on how to avoid tax.

This is the most pathetic thread I've ever read, some of you need to grow up. I feel sorry for Eden having to put up with this almost every post.. You don't like something scroll on. It's not difficult x

What a jump! Someone who likes her and is happy she got a role with such high profile actresses thinks she is a god? Ahahah
