"Eden, is pottershots working? It is not accessible to me? " And no it's not working for me either.
And:
"I don't think only director is at fault and if the actors do a bad job then the movie will be bad.Just because Emma is the lead actor doesn't mean she has the upper hand in changing anything. "
yeh 25% audience score on rotten tomatoes and the film will fall out of the top 10 in its 3rd week of release......considering the star power that is devastating!
As with most things entertainment related its all subjective. Ive disagreed with critics and other viewers before but i have to admit the scores on RT where they are right now are not that promising. But ill wait for my own review and rating after ive actually seen it.
one reason the circle is panned and never had a real chance is because its anti social media and it's those companies like twitter and facebook that have a huge influence on so called journalism these days......
"one reason the circle is panned and never had a real chance is because its anti social media and it's those companies like twitter and facebook that have a huge influence on so called journalism these days......" correct cognitive dissonance plus this, companies dont want people to see that they are living lives exactly as depicted in the film
The reviews are pretty pathetic, but I still intend on watching the film even if it is on DVD when it get like 8 Euro. Which is 16 Deutsche Mark in the old currency. I can't help myself; I am still turning the Euro in DM. But I want to see the film. I am teaching at the moment, and usually I do not have time to go to cinema during the school year, so I save it for the summer vacation or eventual DVD.
It one article I read that the film, The Circle, was considered to be an insult. I thought the book was such also, but very entertaining. The book and film raise real questions about the power of the media in our personal lives. The movie approach is infantile in the people being under total surveillance in the most private areas of their daily life. Wanting to control every aspect of human life or the lives of others is a regression of the own personality. The book and film are thought provoking- but yes insulting to those that wear the shoe.
Emma needs to work on her personal skill package. What she has now is not enough for a good adult actress. In the long run though, I see her doing something else other than acting. For one thing, I do not think she is getting the offers.

Better reviews from people, not critics. Emma mostly lauded for her performance and accent!
Movie not without issues most blamed on the director maybe should have listened to his lead actor's more.
Of course we can't judge in UK or Ireland yet.

The author presentsThe Circle world as a world of adolescent media experts in regression. Nobody likes to be criticized in that way.
